Projections have changed slightly for Rutgers, per Bart Torvik's T-Rank

Rutgers was previously projected to finish 14-17 overall (7-13 Big Ten) but they are now projected to finish 13-18 overall (6-14 Big Ten) - AND - they have a 0.2% chance of making it to the NCAA Tournament

Honestly, if they continue to play as poorly as they have, there's a real chance this team fails to even make the Big Ten Tournament

The chance is minimal (I’d guess 15%) but there is no way it’s only .2% with Dylan and Ace. There is probably a greater chance than that that we make and win the B1G tournament than .2%.
We have 17 games left. To sneak in on the bubble I believe at minimum we’d have to win 12 of our last 17 while also avoiding any non q1 losses. I just dont see a path

Have to go 11-6 the rest of the way HOWEVER must win the next three IMO. This will make or break their season.

As for the remainder of January, I don't see Rutgers winning on the road against Penn State, Nebraska, and Northwestern.

I personally dont think that gets us in. I think we’d have to hit 13-7 to sneak in and get to dayton
I think 19-12 overall (12-8) gets them into the NCAAT in the First Four. They would have A LOT of Quad 1 wins.

HOWEVER

Rutgers won't get to 19-12 (12-8) with the way they are playing right now. Defense is terrible, rebounding is nonexistent, our sharpshooters are cold, and rely too heavily on Ace/Dylan. I see Rutgers finishing below .500 and potentially missing the Big Ten Tournament.

Considering how Minnesota's season is going, they'll likely be a Quad 4 by the time Rutgers plays them. After getting blown out by 20 last night, Gophers dropped to 165 in the NET.

Why are people so obsessed with wins and losses? We were told we are watching a "special season" just the other day.
The only thing special will be the fact that we will be the first team in the history of NCAA basketball with 2 NBA lottery picks and a losing season. My god, teams have 1 great player and make it to the dance all the time, we won't do it with 2.

Didn't Gottlieb at GB pick up some professional from Israel?
He can’t have had a professional contract other than paying for room and board. The NCAA checks it out. Demin from BYU, Ivisic from Illinois and others were investigated for a month to determine their amateur status.

Of course, it’s all silly anyway considering the majority of college players are pros now anyway. Kind of hypocritical.

There if just no way I can see us figuring out how to get better on defense. Without that, we have to out score our opponents and we only have 2 guys who can score. Add to that, our turn overs and brutal foul shooting and you have something that will certainly make this a season to "remember".

We only have two guys that can score because of our staff.

We grabbed statistically good shooters from the portal. These guys didn’t just forget how to put the ball in the hoop.

Team confidence outside of Ace/Dylan/Lathan is SHOT. For whatever reason, our staff can’t figure out how to get open looks to guys to get things going.

It’s been this way forever on offense. The problem never got fixed, we just injected more talent into the problem.

I mean seriously. How many of those shots from Ace do you expect to go in from a normal P5 senior forward?

Ace is just supremely talented. Just because the point total is going up doesn’t mean the offense is better.

The shots being missed by PJ and Martini are open looks, those are guys that only shoot when its optimal for them. Hard to say we can't get them open looks when its open looks they are missing. They are guys who have to rush things a bit from what they are used to to get shots off against quicker defenders.

Have to finish 12-8 in the Big Ten with zero additional Quad 3 losses (USC & Minn)
This

12-8/19-12…..and get one in the big ten tourney

This requires winning at least 4 of the next 6 games to get to 5-4/12-8….

Wisconsin
Purdue
UCLA
At Nebraska
At Penn state
Michigan state

I would like our chances better getting 5 of 6…and being 6-3/13-7…..

If there is a time to wake up, it’s now ….

3 successive home games against resume saving teams could not come at a better time.
I am still a glass half full type, & gained the positive from last night that Ace is now firing on all cylinders
with Dylan back, we will see what happens.
Sweep at home is a necessity however.
