Well both NW and Michigan won’t have their HCs on the sideline when we play them. It’s only a plus, whether we do anything with it or not we’ll see.Maybe Al isn't too far off from 8-2...hehehehe

The “suspension “ of Harbaugh is getting thousands of laughs on Twitter.Well both NW and Michigan won’t have their HCs on the sideline when we play them. It’s only a plus, whether we do anything with it or not we’ll see.
Talk is cheap @RUforlife . What have you done to allow Rutgers to take advantage of the transfer portal? My guess is nothing, and I likely aren’t too far off.If Greg was rebuilding in that era, then I would agree, a coach deserved five years, however, it is a different world now in the transfer portal era, a competent new coach can turn his whole roster over in 2-3 years. Sanders is the extreme at Colorado where he is doing it in his first year, but 4 years into a rebuild in this era, no more free years, six wins should be the minimum given one of the easiest OOC schedules we will ever have, plus opening with Northwestern,
Let's see, I am a legacy alumnus, season ticket holder for well over 30 years, donate additional $s to the football, wrestling, and women's gymnastics (that is for my wife by the way) programs. So maybe, I have some right to ask the head football coach who is making millions of $s to somehow put a winning product on the field in year 4 of a rebuild in the transfer portal era. My goodness, the OP needs to get his head out of the HC's ass and stop licking his balls for once.Talk is cheap @RUforlife . You’d have a salient point if we had Sanders and USCs support, where they are literally buying the best prospects from the portal, where possible, to rebuild quickly. They are supported by big money boosters. Deion got Travis Hunter. USC got Caleb Williams, a Heisman Candidate.
In contrast, We’re getting non-NIL kids who have great potential and but also carry greater risk, because they played at a lower level of football.
This is where we are because there isn’t enough support. I would have preferred that we had recruited Marylands Tight End, who took a bag to go to Alabama. It would have been preferable to recruit a WR like Jordan Addison who helped turn around USC and later got drafted. I would have liked to have seen us give a bag to Jaylan Hornsby, NJ’s #1 WR recruit, who received a bag to go to Texas A&M.
With our 500K strong alumni base, Rutgers should be throwing around money like the Yankees. But too few prioritize a successful football program, so we do what we can.
I like how you state all these expectations, such as turning around a program in 2-3 years, yet aren’t doing anything to make it happen.
So your assertion needs to come with the appropriate caveat. Yes, a coach can turn over the roster in 2-3 years, as long as he has the appropriate support.
Rutgers can’t turn around the roster in 2-3 years. It’s taking us a full 5 years to turn over the roster and may take 6, depending on how many players remain, considering they got an extra year of eligibility, thanks to the pandemic.
Final Record will likely be in the range of 5-8 wins.
We need more positive karma. If we beat Michigan, Wisconsin becomes winnable. And then we will STEAMROLL to 8-0. For this to happen, we need:
It just might be 2006 again
- WR Jackson is the real deal
- WR Brantley is the real deal
- TE Bowman is the real deal
- QB Wimsatt plays to his potential
- RB Sam Brown stays healthy
- WRs Rochelle and Braithwaite contribute
- OLine takes huge step forward
- OL Sutton is ready to go and plays at 90% of his former self
- Defense plays effectively as expected
That's what he does best.Let's see, I am a legacy alumnus, season ticket holder for well over 30 years, donate additional $s to the football, wrestling, and women's gymnastics (that is for my wife by the way) programs. I will never give a dime to pay a player to put on the Rutgers uniform, I have contributed and will continue to contribute plenty of $s for the facilities the HC claims are necessary to compete in the B1G. Asking individuals to both support NIL and facilities is actually pretty pathetic and shows that the HC lacks the ability to sell his program to the local and statewide businesses who should be in fact be funding the NIL portion of the equation.Thank you for answering the question and for your support of Rutgers Athletics. But from your response, we can deduce that you’ve given nothing to Rutgers NIL, yet here you are, asking Schiano to turn
Over the roster in three years, and have a winning program in year 4.
A winning program is a possibility for Rutgers this year, and something we’re all rooting for. But it’s not a guarantee.
every Big Ten Coach is making millions, and every fanbase is asking their coach to put a winning product on the field, so Rutgers is hardly alone in this regard. And Despite making millions, Schiano’s salary is at the bottom of Big Ten Football Head Coaches payscale. Locksley previously made less than Schiano, but that changes this year.

The amended deal bumps the coach’s salary up to $5.5 million in 2023 and will increase by $300,000 every year until the deal’s last year in 2027, per a Maryland source.dbknews.com
And we have to improve with facilities that are not relative to the competition, according to Schiano.
“I feel like we have a really good facility that we’ve made better. But it’s not relative to our Big Ten competition. We need to get some things done. We will, and we’ll do it the right way.’'

We are also trying to get better, despite NIL support which is not competitive with peers.
In this article, Jon Newman states that football needs 6-7 Million in NIL Dollars to successfully compete, yet we have only raised 1.5 Million across all sports.

So we are building a winning program, within the constraints we are faced with. The ‘24 Class is a remarkable achievement, and one that will make us a winning program, but they will probably need a year to acclimate.
So we should have a winning program by ‘25, if we don’t have one this year or next.
You can’t compare the two, they are totally different rebuilds when one has a roster of 13 vs 85.8-0 I think is a pipe dream. It would be nice but the football team has been beyond awful under Schiano # 2 coaching these last 3 years. We were 1-8 against the BIG last year and we got pounded in almost every game. We have to get above .500 in the BIG to become somewhat relative. The basketball team was horrendous for years and now under Pikiell the team has been at least .500 for the last 4 years in the BIG. Every year I hear we have a great recruiting class until I see where they are rated against only BIG Ten teams in recruiting. Schiano must show something this coming season. He is getting paid $ 4 million dollars a year. It is about time he produces.
No one is ever going to force anyone to do anything they don’t want to do. And if anyone is giving anything, that’s good enough.I will never give a dime to pay a player to put on the Rutgers uniform, I have contributed and will continue to contribute plenty of $s for the facilities the HC claims are necessary to compete in the B1G. Asking individuals to both support NIL and facilities is actually pretty pathetic and shows that the HC lacks the ability to sell his program to the local and statewide businesses who should be in fact be funding the NIL portion of the equation.
Every Big Ten Coach is a millionaire. Locksley is getting paid $5M. Harbaugh is getting paid 7.3M. Matt Rhule is making $8M a year. Ryan Day is making 9.5M a year, as does Mel Tucker.8-0 I think is a pipe dream. It would be nice but the football team has been beyond awful under Schiano # 2 coaching these last 3 years. Michigan isn't as deep as people like to make them out to be. Going into 2022. they were ranked only 13th on the 247 Team Composite. here's the ranking. There 1st team, however, is as good as anybody - just not a deep roster thoughUnfortunately I wasn't being silly. Michigan's third team is still littered with 4 stars. I think our defense could hold it's own but until proven otherwise I have no faith in our offense.
In other words , even the programs that ae expected losers have a chance if the stars align right and they are the upsetters ,not the upsetee of worse program(s).Hope springs eternal this time of year! And who knows., anything can happen on any given day in college football. That is why we watch. IF we get enough turnovers, if we play smart and above what the pundits say, there is always a chance. That damn football bounces funny very often.
Arkansas is going to need a lot of lucky bounces to win the close games as well. The Hogs could go 9-3 as easily as 5-7. It all depends if KJ Jefferson can stay healthy for Arkansas. In other words , even the programs that ae expected losers have a chance if the stars align right and they are the upsetters ,not the upsetee of worse program(s).
Upsets happen and some programs need a lot of upset wins to make the post season

We should win the first three games no doubt, but we won't if you look at our past history against teams we should beat, three in a row is a tough ask for this coach.People always make fun of Al, but sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut. I am not as confident as Al being 8-0 going into the Ohio State game. After reviewing the 8 opponents leading up to the OSU, I think Rutgers could be as good as 6-2. This is the best opportunity to get bowl eligible because the back end of the schedule is not kind.
W Northwestern: clustf*ck right now and leave a lot to desire. Their offense is the worst in the B1G. Worse than Rutgers. Their defense is the worst or close to it in the B1G.
W Temple: shot their load last year against us. Too much talent is always leaving compared to what comes in.
W Va. Tech: They are experiencing the effects of Chris Ash (Justin Fuente) as he left the program with nothing. Their offense is a mirror of Rutgers, but their defense is worse. Their defense is good in a telephone booth. Outside of that, they are bad.
L Michigan: too much talent, but that doesn't mean Rutgers can't blood their nose and make the game a sh*tshow. That will have the Idiot Michigan faithful calling HC Goofy's job. 🤣
W Wagner: next
L Wisconsin: will turn into Cincinnati offensively soon, but not this year. If they pass the ball more than usual, it will make life difficult for them to find "Wisconsin success" this year. I think Rutgers can make it a game but cannot get over the hump.
W Michigan State: Each year that passes, MSU will regret paying "Slick" Tucker all that money. The transfer portal hasn't been kind to Mel, and he's not into developing quality recruits because he wants instant success. Rutgers has enough to win this year.
W Indiana: they have taken our place as the program that has lost its way. Rutgers has to keep the hammer on them because they are still capable.
I'll post some information later in the next few weeks to explain how Rutgers matches up against these teams. Once you get past the name on the front of the jersey, you'll be shocked at what some of these teams bring to the table. Rutgers has enough talent, depth, and experience to change the narrative against these teams.
but can be done, so think positiveWe should win the first three games no doubt, but we won't if you look at our past history against teams we should beat, three in a row is a tough ask for this coach.
All of this is predicated on the notion that our offense functions even remotely close to somewhere around average, which it most definitely did not for the last two years. Until it proves it can do anything beyond desperately scrape by, it is way too soon to predict anything better than last year.People always make fun of Al, but sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut. No, because your thinking is along the typical lines of Rutgers is always worse than everyone else. I've mentioned NW, and Va. Tech's offense was just as bad as Rutgers' and looks worse this year. I'm counting on that to be the biggest difference, along with an improved Rutgers' defense. I've mentioned NW and VA Tech have terrible defenses. Also, we have more stability than NW or Va. Tech at the coach's position. As for the other teams, again, once you get past the name on the front of the jersey, they are not the monsters of yesteryear. Mel Tucker is getting worse every year. There is a reason Tucker jumps from job to job, except this time, the money was too good to pass up. He's just being exposed now because he is staying in one spot too long. Indiana is Indiana. Temple continues to be a feeder program for other FBS schools. You can't survive as a FBS school when you experience a talent drain yearly. Wagner is a given. All of this is predicated on the notion that our offense functions even remotely close to somewhere around average, which it most definitely did not for the last two years. Uh no, I said what I said. Until that horrible offense proves it can function it's silly to predict many wins. You can't scrape by on a wing and a prayer to a 6-2 record. This offense was shut out in the last game of the year last year. Last season they played a lot of teams with bad offenses, and lost to many of them. In their wins they barely squeaked by. The offense has a lot to prove. What you're talking is fantasy unless improvement is shown. I'm talking about what we've actually seen on the field. No, because your thinking is along the typical lines of Rutgers is always worse than everyone else. I've mentioned NW, and Va. Until you open your eyes, things will always be doom for you. Rutgers doesn't compare or compete against itself. Games are about matches up, and that's something you refuse to grasp. Look how other teams are put together; you'll see a different picture. Why do you punish yourself with this way of thinking?Uh no, I said what I said. Lol you have no idea how I think. I go based on play on the field. You go on fantasy. Until the offense proves it can function they're not likely to win much. unlikely bit can happen, if you take an optimistic attitudeSchiano has had only 2 winning streaks of more than 4 in a row in his 14 years, 2008 won 7 in a row to end the season, lost first game 2009 and 9 in a row to start the season in 2006, lost a bowl in 2005. It is highly unlikely he wins 8 in a row in 2023.
Wins over the:Find a way to 6-6, anyway . Season is then a success
I wish you understood football because this debate would make more sense to you. With that i will not spend another second discussing this topic with you.Lol you have no idea how I think. This ^^^^^ No more free years, year 4 of the rebuild needs to show more than just improvement, 6 wins and earn a bowl game by the play on the field. No excuses!Find a way to 6-6, anyway . Season is then a success
Oh yes since I disagree I don't understand. Let me explain it to you: All your argument is is that we don't have the worst offense. Great. But we have a terrible offense that can easily fall short on any given day and rarely rises to the occasion. That makes winning a lot of games hard, especially in an offense crazed era. Is that simple enough?I wish you understood football because this debate would make more sense to you. With that i will not spend another second discussing this topic with you.

Al, don't waste your time. It’s enough to prove that you don’t know wtf you’re talking about.
This years offense will be much, much better.
Greg Schiano is now on record saying that Pat Flaherty has significantly facilitated the development of the offensive line. And that is key. Most starters have significant experience.
They will pave the way for Sam Brown, who has unlimited potential if he can stay healthy. Aaron Young, who was injured last year, is back, and he, along with Monangai provide quality
We have better personnel at WR with Jacque Jackson and Naseim Brantley. We have playmakers like Rochelle and Braithwaite, and others, who are going to impact.
We have more depth at tight end with Bowman from New Hampshire bolstering the Corp. Konopka, Jonny, Mike Higgins, and Logan Blake round out our most talented TE Corp in a long time.
Wimsatt is now in his third year, and seeing his second year of real action. If he improves his accuracy and stays healthy, this offense will be unstoppable.
Kirk Ciarrocca, as OC, is the straw that is going to stir this drink. He has helmed successful offenses at Minnesota, and he is going to make this offense successful. I think we can average 25 pts per game.
lol, great comeback, proving if you can't stop optimism in someone, you try to insult someone that post optimistically here.Al,
If you had a wife or GF, I’m convinced you would be ok with them having an affair with Schiano. Your level of obsession towards a coach who hasnt done anything in a decade is beyond insane. Genuinely, the day Schiano leaves we are going to have to put you on suicide watch. This isn’t healthy
Lol the guy who predicts upsets every week and is always wrong claims someone else doesn't know what he's talking about--even as he makes another prediction. You can't make this up. I'll wait until I actually see the offense play before I decide it's really improved. You can make more of your stellar predictions. And then if they don't come true you can blame fans for not giving enough money and the lack of a field house. It’s enough to prove that you don’t know wtf you’re talking about.
