Big10 Tourny Seeding Projections

133 weight would be a bad seeding for giraldo
They ranked Giraldo really low (11th)
Does his win vs Nebraska move him up (Montoya is ranked 5th)

Does seem a little low but he has not wrested well down the stretch. Hopefully skipping the Lehigh match will re-energize him.

Can Giraldo make the weight? Some kids just grow and cannot drop down.

I realized the B1G is loaded, but being a top ten program our seating are low. Thanks for posting.
My comments on that link:

125 McCabe @ 9 maybe 1 spot too low as he is ranked higher than & beat Rogaliner

133 Giraldo @ 11 is probably accurate. You could maybe argue 1 spot too low as he is ranked higher than Welch but he lost to Welch so not likely.

141 Ashnault @ 3 maybe 1 spot too low as he is ranked higher than Thorn but Ashnault lost to Thorn so basically flip a coin between the 2

149 Dippery @ 10 is accurate

157 Lewis @ 5 is 1 spot too low as he's ranked higher than & beat Murphy

165 Perrotti @ 3 is accurate

174 Bakuckas @ 11 seems accurate

184 Gravina @ 5 is accurate

197 Hrymack @ 8 seems accurate

HWT Smith @ 4 is accurate

Is Ash healthy? Do you guys have any hope that he could win the whole thing. If I had to bet on someone from PSU being a dog and running it, I'd go with Conaway. I know we have a lot of great wrestlers but Conaway is my favorite. Kid has come a long way and has cardio for days.

Ash looked pretty healthy in taking apart 9th ranked Randy Cruz of Lehigh last week. It was the best he looked in about a month. The little layoff (was held out the previous match) seems to be a good move.

Of course he has a good chance of winning 141. Why not? He lost to Thon of Minn earlier this year, but he's a student of the sport and will have (hopefully) learned and figure what he needs to do to win the rematch. Jordan of OSU will be a tough challenge of course Not sure if Ash has faced him before.

I asked because it appeared (from the outside looking in...I only saw him once this year) that he wasn't right.

Ash's last 2 matches were 9-0 vs Sabatello (purdue) and 9-2 vs Cruz (Lehigh)... two beatable, but tough to open up on opponents... No excuses next weekend for Ash...

What's It All Mean For The Title?
How does Penn State look for Big Tens? Glad you asked. Here are projected points by weight for each of the contending teams - without bonus - if everything finished as exactly as projected in the seeding tables above (note to reader: there's zero chance of that happening).

There really is no argument for the projected seed of the Rutgers wrestlers at 133 at 141. Record against conference opponents is the #1 criterion, followed by head-to-head results. National ranking is less of a factor. So ...

133 - Giraldo has a worse conference record than Welch and also lost head-to-head against Welch. Therefore Giraldo should be seeded behind Welch, despite national ranking

141 - Ashnault and Thorn have essentially the same conference record (one loss each), but Thorn beat Ash head-to-head. Therefore, this is a no-brainer - Thorn gets the #2 seed behind Jordan, and Ash follows at #3.

157 - You may have a valid argument about Lewis at #5. In fact, with only one conference loss, you could even argue that Lewis should get the #3 seed.
