Bryce Drew fired at Vanderbilt after 3 seasons; went 0-18 in SEC

apparently that's what you get when you sign a monster recruiting class with a pair of McD's AAs and 3rd recruit that was top 100. Granted one of the kids missed almost the entire season with an injury, but expectations being raised isn't a good thing for your future when you totally tank.

That coach was very hot when they hired him. I was hoping at the time that maybe he would have interviewed with us. Thank god for pikiell

It's a good job-----great tradition and a rabid fan base.

You can get kids to go there.

Not shocked if they reach out to guy at Murray State.

its tough to defend 0-18 in the SEC where even mediocre programs can get to the dance like Ole Miss. Still he lost his all american to injury but last year was poor too. New AD wants his stamp on the program as he had only like one meeting with Drew. Its not the best of jobs either. Stallings doesnt look so bad anymore.

Meanwhile looks like Avery Johnson will be out at Alabama as well. Mediocrity for sure at that program. Made the dance last year with 15 losses, was 2nd team out on the cut line this year with 15 losses again and bowed out at home to Norfolk State in the NIT

Both guys put their eggs in the 1-and-done basket with Garland and Sexton. Didn't do nearly enough to put good players around them.

I just saw that the Alabama job might open. The front runner would be Steve Prohm (ISU) who happens to be an Alabama grad. If Prohm leaves then Hoiberg could be the mayor of Ames, Iowa once again.

Vandy also had 5 star Simi Shittu that committed to them over UNC, Louisville, and a bunch of others.

Should Ron Harper be calling Scottie Pippen to pitch him on Rutgers? Come play with my son?

I disagree.

Both Garland and Sexton had talent around them. Avery Johnson is just a mediocre Coach. Drew is better but his team was young and the SEC was rugged, still not sure how they pulled off the winless feat.

Cal and Washington State were less talented than Vandy but even they won a couple of games in the Pac-12. Then again the Pac-12 was nowhere near as good as the SEC this year.

I think both of you are right to a degree.

One thing sure----you can't go 0-18 and be comfortable that you get another season.

Tough for Drew, he will bounce back and get another very good job and do well.
