BTN shatters viewership mark with record Saturday

Think we had the smallest number of the three games due to the time slot? Certainly was not due to the game not being an exciting one.

well the NL Playoffs had something to do with that I would imagine as it knocked NYC ratings down. All in all a great day for the Big 10

Prime time game against top 5 in conference opponent. If we want to think we can deliver NY/NJ market then we should have win the day. I think it says our team is not as relevant as we would like it to be. I would hope if we were above .500 we would have delivered more viewers.

RU can blow the roof off ratings in the B1G if we can get the program up to being a consistent winner and more of a regular in Top 20 rankings.

Keep in mind most of our market was probably watching the Mets..

No baseball, much higher rating

When you see this from a lil ol Rutgers game, I begin to wonder why some beats that cover other teams make slights about how the Big10 must be regretting adding RU. Money talks

That's a 1.7 in the 12 metered markets. It doesn't break it down by individual market. That's a good rating even though there's no doubt the Mets hurt the number.
Could someone chime in with the local (NYC-NJ and Philly) numbers if they come across them? This is information I would love to bring to the attention of my Cuse and UConn friends who swear they were the better choices just for the NYC and NJ market viewing.

I've shown that to them several times. Their reality takes precedence over actual reality though so I probably shouldn't even bother with the latest evidence, either.

Your two statements dont really have much to do with one another.

Yes - we arent that relevant nationally or even throughout the rest of BTN territory. Thats a given.

But for NYC the only number that matters is how RU did against other CFB games in its time slot. Im assuming that we won that battle (Ill assume ND/Navy got higher ratings earlier in the day being on NBC with a ranked ND) as we pretty much always do if we are playing anyone of note or on a real network.

Really? Up against the Mets in their first playoffs since 2006 or something...

BTW, with the Mets playing Los Angeles, it hurts the ratings from two major markets.

The BTN ratings only measured 12 markets. LA wasn't one of them.

I meant on a national level. Locally, the Mets game definitely was a factor.

We had huge competition on the local NY market for eyeballs on the TV.
Mets playoff game vs. LA Dodgers and the New York Rangers Home Opener.

Does anyone know what "game" won the NYC market?

BTN’s games were the highest rated across all cable networks in Baltimore, Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Detroit and Washington, D.C. and second in Indianapolis, Milwaukee, New York and Philadelphia.**

First, I assume they mean only games showed on cable channels, not the broadcast networks. So, do they mean second in the NYC market to some ESPN or FoxSports game?

Do they mean second for the day in NYC or second at the same time? And do they mean that the top-rated BTN game (not Rutgers-MSU) was 2nd in the NYC market to some other game on a cable network?

I read it as meaning that the combined slate of BTN games generated a combined rating for the day that was second in the NYC market versus other cable channels' ratings for the day.

It's no coincidence that the previous mark was last year, reflecting the benefits of having a larger B1G footprint through the additions of NJ and MD, plus a dent in the NYC market.

I took it to mean BTN had the top rated game in each of those listed markets and the 2nd rated game in NYC and other mentioned markets. I do not think they meant it cumulatively.

No matter how you slice and dice it; it's good news for RU and B1G.
