Bullock hasn't played at all. Is he hurt? Does he have the ability (NOW) to contribute? If not let him transfer.

So far Mensah has been a disappointment other than an assist against MSU. Not sure if he can shoot...but he either throws the ball away, get's blocked, or turns it over. He should transfer out as well.

Anyone we have sights on for 2018 that we need?

Thoughts?

This has hit dead horse status. We clearly need better production from those scholarships whether that's from hoping they improve or from them moving on to a more appropriate level of competition and bringing in other players. I (and most of this board) have been vocal about the later option being the far superior one.

There is no way that Mensah is a better player than Bullock. Not saying Bullock is the answer either but he’s a D1 player who held offers from Monmouth and St. Peter’s while Mensah is a D3-D2 player at best in my honest opinion

But Bullock isn't a PG, so it's not like it's an either/or between him and Mensah.

Scholarships are precious and Rutgers as a lower tier B1G team can't afford non productive players on the squad.Hopefully, changes will occur at the end of the season that will be beneficial to the student athlete and the future of the Rutgers mens basketball program.A sense of urgency is required as a member of a power conference to change the status quo.

Dead horse is right. Saying something for the 100th Time does not make it more right.

It is what it is.....

Bullock is the most talked about 11th to 13th man in the history of College Basketball.

if we get more MSU Souf and not NJIT Souf...it will be fine.

I'd rather talk about Thiam....he showed a little more last game....putting the ball on thw floor and driving to the basket a few times was an encouraging sign and good to see.

Jerry Carino indicated in a tweet that Bullock has not passed a conditioning test and that's why he doesn't get in even when walk ons do. Take that as you wish.
Did Carino follow-up with any quotes from Bullock or Bullock’s high school coach confirming Carino’s contention?

You gotta remember that not everyone lives on this board and is obsessed as some of us. Give the OP a break.

Just a guess: Both of them might have been recruited to give RU a recruiting edge if a Marshalltown Community College or RC HS has a player RU wants badly in the future and bringing those two in helps do that.
Setting up a relationship with the HCs might give Pike an edge when he wants one of their players.

Well Issa Thiam’s brother is at currently at Marshalltown, and he’s averaging nearly 20 & 10 and shooting 40% from 3.

Neither is Geo.

Meaning Bullock can't play the 1 (Geo can), so he isn't even in the conversation for time at that spot. And Mensah can only play the 1 (and that's even debatable, to be sure), so he isn't in the conversation for the 3/4 where Bullock would need to fight for time.

There is no overlap between them, so there would never be an either/or.

Not if that player never plays.

I would think having Issa would mean more than having Souf, lol. And either way, that strategy would be a terrible way to build a program.

True lol, but several great teams have been built using the same strategy.

Not if that player never plays.
If the HS Coach knows why his player isn't on the floor ,his player being given a scholarship might help start a relationship. Just because a player isn't playing, doesn't mean his HS coach will be pissed. That coach might just understand why and feel his player is being treated right.

The JUCO player might not be playing well and lose his spot on depth chart, but his JUCO coach might understand and still lean RU's way when advising his players what school might be their best fit.

MO you add nothing how bout you transfer

I'd be very unhappy to transfer Rutgers (basketball / football) from my will...and so would the Athletic Department.
I won't but dickhead quips like yours make me think I could just take another trip, buy a car....you get the picture.

If you're a major contributor, congrats.
But if you haven't donated, maybe you should STFU ... when talking to alums who have.

Transfers happen all the time but needs to be the kids decision.

You can't run kids off and IMO you do that to a kid with 1 year left to a degree from RU it's just flat out wrong

When you bring kids in you live with the results

The kid has played 10 games-------you cannot quit on him yet

Spot on...MSU Souf was a net add. NJIT Souf was subpar but 3/4 of the team was

Sometimes i hate our fans...we quit on our friggin players way too dang early.

7 min, 0 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 1 pf on a shot, where Ward went 1/2 at the line. So, 1 ast for 2 pts for us, 1 foul for 1 point for them... which is a net add, yes, and probably his best performance. Which was followed up by 2 turnovers and 2 fouls in 5 min against NJIT.

Really hoping a lightbulb goes on for him at some point, because it hasn't yet. He hasn't consistently shown that he can protect the ball or defend without fouling, and until he does, opposing guards are just going to pressure him when he brings up the ball to get the steal, and drive at him when he's on defense to get the foul. Playing him 7 minutes a game right now against Div-I teams is inserting 0 points, 0.5 rb, 0.7 ast, 0.7 turnovers, and 1.5 fouls

Correct. And if he doesn't get better i am sure coach and co will address things

Until then, i am rooting for the kid instead of trashing him after every game.

On the other hand, NJIT Souf is the Souf we've seen for the majority of the season.

There's going to need to be a conversation with Souf about minutes for next year.

If Sanders stays, there just won't be any minutes for him on the court - so, his decision would be to stay and be a practice team player, or go and seek minutes somewhere else. There are 120 min at the 1-3 spots, and we'll have Sanders, Baker, Mathis, Kiss, Harper, and Thiam fighting for them. Souf doesn't factor into that rotation, and in this scenario would likely transfer somewhere that he could see time.

If Sanders leaves, then it's almost certain that Pike would look to bring in another PG, who Souf would be fighting for minutes against. Depending on who that other guard is, that would also play into his decision.

Sorry if you feel like we can't talk realistically about players' contributions and futures on a message board - I'll let you go back to singing Kumbaya.

Getting a foothold at Marshalltown Community College? What, are they the new Oak Hill Academy? I assume this is a joke. If not, you need a time-out.

Souf is almost surely here to stay. Where would he transfer to for his last year of college? Given he was juco I would assume he won't have the credits to graduate at the end of this year so academically, finishing at RU is almost surely the best approach. And certainly no other school will spend a Hoops scholarship on him. In his first 3 minutes of the St.John's game I said he can't play. But RU needs to do what is right and live with the situation another year.

You have never played anything competitive have you. Otherwise, you would know what it takes to win. And, it's never about going through the motions, or not doing something because it might hurt someones feelings. It's about beating the other guy, and not just beating them, but completely dominating them. That's the mentality that's missing.
Proof of that is a 9 point win against a team like the last one. A team we should have beaten by 20/30 points. Or, the team we play next, another team we should completely dominate.
It's the type of "killer" instinct great programs have. This team should never take a night off, because of schedule, motivation or anything.
But, that's just me.

What the heck does that have to do with what I said, nothing! And, "moron" was your word, a little self reflection? Pikiell is not playing on the floor, all he can do is manage, direct, motivate. He is playing the hand he has, someday he will have a better hand. But, does not change the fact that he has some bad cards.
