It’s too far… it’s farNotre Dame now in on Hammond.
If you're asking about the Notre Dame interest, here's one place:Where was this posted?
Based on eligibility left, I don't think Notre Dame is losing any guards. If that holds, he would probably be a reserve at ND. I have not researched this in depth, just a quick look at the roster.ND is concerning
Rosario,Mack ,Carter and Harper were pretty good shooters.Hammond is a pure shooter. Would he best our best shooter since Douby?
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we have much of an advantage over Notre Dame when it comes to available playing time for a transfer guard like Hammond...Based on eligibility left, I don't think Notre Dame is losing any guards. He has a clear path to start at Rutgers and be one of the primary scorers.
Nobody said Pike didn’t want these guys. But they are saying that if we don’t get a particular one then it seems to simply be next man up - not epic disaster. We are obviously looking to land at least one and probably 2 guards.Funny cause people on this board said they didn’t want Wright and Hammond. The transition to spencer after Wright went elsewhere says pike though otherwise.
People on his board absolutely said they didn’t want both Hammond and Wright cause they’re too similar. Idk who the other suitors for spencer are.Nobody said Pike didn’t want these guys. Anyone know who else is in the mix for Spencer?
Sorry if this is old news, but a week ago he told 247Sports that he was planning to visit Minnesota and also Loyola of Chicago, and that other schools were involved too. Said he'd probably use all 5 of his visits before making a decision. And the next day an article stated that NC State contacted him. I'm not sure who else is in the mix.Nobody said Pike didn’t want these guys. But they are saying that if we don’t get a particular one then it seems to simply be next man up - not epic disaster. I didn’t see that. We need to take more than one guard in my opinion because we’re not going to know until they are here if they can play good enough defense to stay on the court in a BIG game.People on his board absolutely said they didn’t want both Hammond and Wright cause they’re too similar. Your inability to see the benefits it brings to the actual athletes is very telling. Try to view the situation from a perspective that isn’t your own.So this is the way its going to be going forward year to year. Even if we land Hammond, he is a one year plug and play rental that we will need to replace again next year. Is Spencer the same situation eligibility wise? I guess this allows Simpson more time to develop but he seems like more of a PG than a shooter at this point. This is why ideally we also needed to be in on transfers like Floyd who could fill a slot for multiple years even if not ready day one. I realize we picked up Hyatt last year and ideally a big not ready to start with multiple years of eligibility would fit well this year.
While I root for the front of the jersey, it escapes me how anyone finds this new process of procuring "student athletes" a good thing.
You know it will be 2-3 guys out of a whole roster coming on board this way, right? That’s not the only game plan. It’s a hybrid and always will be.So this is the way its going to be going forward year to year. I will certainly admit to being old school on most of these topics. I am ok with grad transfers and the ability to transfer without penalty if your coach leaves, but other than that I think the requirement to sit out a year was not unreasonable given the benefits provided to a scholarship athlete. This additional freedom of movement with regard to transfer along with the NIL factor will eventually need to be reigned in to some degree because I don't think it is sustainable. I have been wrong before and maybe here again but that is my view and I get others don't agree with it.Your inability to see the benefits it brings to the actual athletes is very telling. Portal has been here awhile now, it’s not going to change much as it allows under recruited / late blooming players a chance to move up. And it allows guys not playing an opportunity to find a better situation. In the past some of these guys in the latter wouldn’t be as attractive to programs because of the one year wait as they had immediate needs.I will certainly admit to being old school on most of these topics. I haven’t seen much of either. Just curious why you say this? Spencer really only played 2 years (5 games in the Covid year). Seems like there’s potential there - no?Hammond clear priority when looking at these two let’s get it
Both would be good pickups and provide a solid rotation at Guard.I haven’t seen much of either. Just curious why you say this? Spencer really only played 2 years (5 games in the Covid year). Seems like there’s potential there - no?

He played 37 minutes a game and was their most used offensive player. Whatever defense he played at Loyola won't be super insightful as to what he'd do here in 25 minutes. They needed him fresh on the offensive end.Wanted to check out Spencer on D but they start in a zone
Not sure if this will be any better, but the competition definitely involves more elite players. Loyola vs North Carolina, 18 minute highlights video, early in the 21-22 season.Wanted to check out Spencer on D but they start in a zone
