agree, the mid-field was also one of the best especially considering NWSL player of the year Lindsey Horan did not start most of the matches and Mallory Pugh didn’t play much. Hard lineup to crack.

I agree she still is a premier player, I just don’t think she is a starter anymore, and not better than Morgan. Morgan draws so much attention from defenses that it leaves other open. I don’t think Carli at this point does that.

Heading into the World Cup there was no bigger critic of Morgan than me. That said she had an unbelievable World Cup. Clearly there were the goals...but more than that her runs which cleared so much space but most importantly her hold up of the ball and her passes (not usually her strength). She was the key to us scoring several critical goals that got us through in the late stages.

There's no bigger fan of Carli Lloyd than myself however it's hard to criticize Jill Ellis for the results of that World Cup.
