Carroo's Girlfriend Finally Press Charges

Yes. Which is why the timing seems odd to me.

Alleged victim and her friends jump Ms. Vega.

LC's mom gets involved and also gets hit.

LC (or Shane) throw alleged victim to the ground.

RUPD only charges LC?

Why? why the conspiracy against LC?

Which is really the only point. The only defense is that LC didn't touch her--not whether or not she attacked someone else first.

Because she claimed to have a relationship with Caroo, which makes it a domestic violence issue & the man automatically goes in the paddy wagon.

Now...what if she DIDN'T have a relationship with Carroo & completely lied to the cops on the scene? Would she be subject to a false accusation?

Not the only defense, but it is the one Caroo seems to be going for. And, it is the cleanest.

A defense could also be "self-defense". I won't go over the elements, but the force has to be proportionate. Hard to prove when you are so much larger, but if someone is taking a swing at your face and you push them back, and they just happen to trip and fall - that would be reasonable despite disparity in size. Hard to win the PR front on this one though.

Similarly, is coming to the defense of another is a defense to assault. Meaning, if someone is taking a swing at your mom or girlfriend, it is not assault if you push them out of the way and they fall (it would be assault if you suplexed them). Depending on the facts, maybe you could win the PR battle here

Of course it is all fact specific and I have zero facts and have heard no stories beyond what is public. Its just that "A big man laying hands on a woman is necessarily assault" is a false narrative I have seen some (not you) pushing.

So you're saying that they're not admitted.

Which is really just a semantic argument. Somebody cooling their heels in the ED who hasn't been admitted will generally, after a few hours, insist on leaving.

The point that I'm making is that nobody is admitted to a medical floor through the ED for "observation".

I was in a car accident a while back and completely uninjured. I had to repeatedly and forcefully argue with the paramedics to decline treatment, they tried to force it on me. They're a little gun shy with the better safe than sorry mindset.

Yeah, it really is a matter of semantics, mostly having to do with money. They are actually transferred from the ED to a medical floor and kept overnight, but are considered outpatients, not inpatients. Can't say if they are actuallly "admitted," but they are placed in a room on a medical floor. All the requests for treatment have OBV on them. If they stay past 24 hours, they are then inpatients. I find it a litttle strange, but that is what they do.
