RSM Classic in cold St Simons island, Ga,

Tourney being played on 2 courses. Chris played the course averaging +.5, the other is -1.5.

He shot a -5, 65 which currently places him T4. Another recent college player, Cole Hammer from the U of Texas, leads at 8 under. Chris received a ton of TV time although they screwed up, saying he was the Big EAST, not Big TEN player of the year, His irons were really dialed in but the putting issues came up again, missing Birdie putts of 8, 6, and 7 feet on his last 3 holes. Before that he was putting well.

It’s a par 75?

Knighty….
All Chris needs is you on his bag.
He doesn’t know what he’s missing.
I hope you can club 200 yard 7 irons in no wind and 250’ yard 4 irons.
You should have no problem, those are probably your distances also

I know he has his old HS buddie on his bag so to some extent they're learning together.

Well, manyy years ago I did get my guy around ECCC and into a 3 way playoff for the last spot at a PGA Championship Qualifier. Lost on the 5th playoff hole.

As to 200 yard 7 Irons and 250 yard 4's......those that can't do, advise?

I know some are a bit put off by his transfer to Oklahoma but hey, no NJ born and bred has won on Tour since Jim Mcgovern 30 years ago and he's a Jersey Shore guy who still rep's RU.

He's 1 Under after 5 on his round today.

Another vid from yesterday. Announcers love him.

Different day, different course, near same result.

Gotterup shot -4 on the Par 72 Plantation Course. 5 Birdies and 1 Bogey drops him a bit to T11, 3 strokes behind the co-leaders.

Very positive sign he hit 92.9% of fairways off the tee.

I believe they play the final 2 Rounds on the Par 70 course Gotterup played yesterday.

Son of an old friend caddies at ECCC now for one of the “ gangsters” yes that’s their nickname.
8 guys who go out and play for thousands of bucks and refuse to allow caddies to take a double so they pay them double as a single.
They don’t want them reading greens and picking clubs for anyone else.
According to the kid, the pressure is insane…a few abusive guys who let them know if they feel the caddies are off on speed or break.
Caddies get a cut of winnings so they put up with it.
The shenanigans wouldn’t be allowed anywhere else except maybe Brooklake

Loved ECCC because we were allowed to play more than just Mondays like most clubs. The membership was different back then.

It was a predominantly Irish club when we were kids.
You must have had the pleasure of caddying for Billy Raftery?

McGovern was a Bergen Catholic, Bergen County kid. One brother played NFL for the Chiefs.

Tough day today with a +1, dropping him 20 spots. At the turn he was in 8th but played the next 2 holes 3 over. He was able to get 1 stroke back but was passed by a number of players.

Never did that I remember.

I've mentioned this before. One cool thing that I remember is before his death, 4 time Major winner "Long Jim" Barnes used to hang around the 10th tee and practice green on Sundays. He wasn't the most pleasant person walking the earth and even the members steered clear. I can't tell you how many golfers hit wayward drives on 10 when he was watching lol

I get a lesson from Billy Ziobro once at a clinic
Went to hs with Billy Ziobro in Scotch Plains. He grew up across the street from Ash Brook GC and learned the game there. Last time I saw him was when he was the pro at Atlantic City CC. Great golf course and the course where the term “birdie” was founded.

That is a great golf course. Unfortunately it went private this year.

OT - After being at Crooked Stick the past 2 years, the 2023 B1G Men's championship is being played at Galloway National outside AC.

Chris didn't make a move up today but finished in style. Going into his final hole he was even par and -8 for the tourney.

After a 312 yard drive, he was 150 yards from the pin. He proceded to hole out his 2nd shot for an Eagle. He finished the week at -10 and a T35.

T 35 should earn him somewhere around $40-41,000 which should bring his earnings for a 1/2 year as a professional close to $600k.
