"Chris is our starting quarterback"

And as pointed out in other threads. Other power 5 QBs have had similar and worse statistical days against those defenses this year.

Facts are facts.

And as Dave Miliewski said after the game on the radio last night, even Tom Brady would not have had success against that defensive pressure. He and the other host noted the rediculous statistic they had, that showed on 19 pass plays yesterday Laviano was either sacked, hit hard or under heavy pressure. running for his life

Facts are facts.

By all means bring out your stats, I will go toe to toe to you on stat research any f*cking day. Have you seen my other stat-based posts? I actually do the work... and unlike you, I don't bring an agenda to the research. The numbers speak for themselves. Nebraska has gotten ripped to shreds through the air all season.

No other coach in America would be this stubborn
. Every coach would try and get a spark from a backup, especially one that has PROVEN to be capable. This isn't benching a Senior for a Freshman.

Simple put, Kyle Flood is doing this for his own pride/ego, and it's sick.

Retting could not win the job at LSU,a team that does not have a single competent qb. He has been evaluated be this staff, including Ralph fridge on,and couldn't win the position. He is a source of unrest and trouble for thoIs program. His transfer out of here cannot occur soon enough ,not only for flood, but for the next coach if that is the way ru wants to go.

A source of unrest and trouble? The same backup QB that jumped into the air and celebrated with Laviano after he caught that QB pass? (Thrown by Grant, because our O-coordinator obviously doesn't trust Laviano in the redzone.) The same guy who hasn't said a single unkind word while he stands there and watches a dumpster fire on the field, but won't even be given a fair chance? Rettig is a consummate professional.

Unrest and trouble abound in this program. Unfortunately, the source sits in the Hale center, and is propagated by his (dwindling) legion of supporters.

Exactly !! Finally you get it. You people crying for Rettig need to give it a rest. Laviano is the starter. Flood told you this is how he would handle the QB situation from the start of camp. Incessant whining about it is not going to change this. It is what it is. So Shut up about it. we hear the same crap every day on this board..

That's because he has no awareness or ability to get rid of the ball fast enough at this level. And when he did, he threw it in the ground.

The odds of Skyler here doing shtick is like 99.5%.

How so? He looked genuinely happy for Laviano after Laviano caught that TD pass. I've been trying to watch him on the sidelines (from the limited # of views you get on TV) and he doesn't looks like a source of unrest.

Now FLOOD, he looks like a source of unrest!

He left LSU because their new OC changed from a pro set. Nice try though.

He won the position at RU. Flood just isn't astute enough to realize it.

But hey, keep trotting out a noodle armed QB who hasn't thrown a TD in 4 games. It's working so great.

You're doubling down on the stupid. "Flood told you this is how he would handle the QB situation from the start of camp." That's the sign of a completely inflexible mind. He also said they were close. If that's the case why not make a change and give it a shot? Maybe he's right and Rettig isn't the answer, but at this point what the hell do you have to lose?

Facts are facts.

Southern Miss QBs vs NEB: 26/42, 447 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT

South Alabama QBs vs NEB: 26/45, 313 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT

Illinois QB vs NEB: 23/45, 251 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT

Purdue QB vs NEB: 28/43, 274 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT

Chris Laviano vs NEB: 13/27, 165 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT

I only chose QBs from teams worse than us to make it a fair sample size, you know?

LOL, now people are trying to say Rettig is a problem.... you guys are too much! Most of us wouldn't care if Flood put in ANYONE to replace Laviano -- it doesn't have to be Rettig. The point is that Laviano has struggled in the last 4 games of the season and 5 of the 10 games he's played. He was given the starting job at the beginning of the season but that doesn't mean he should keep it no matter what.

Slyker likes "facts" apparently. How many games has it been since the "starting qb" has thrown for a touchdown?

And it's not even passing for TDs, how many TDs has he led the team to in the past 5 games?

NEBRASKA -- he led RU to 1 score on a 6 yard drive against Nebraska and caught the TD pass (because Flood really thought it was time for us to see what a touchdown pass looked like)

MICHIGAN -- led RU to 0 touchdowns

WISCONSIN -- led RU to 0 touchdowns

OHIO STATE -- led RU to 0 touchdowns (while Rettig threw for 1 TD)

PENN STATE -- led RU to 0 touchdowns

** Laviano had good games against Washington State, Kansas, Michigan State, and Indiana **

Good teams or not, the team could have used a spark in those games. Flood is an idiot not to try something different. If having your starter fail to lead the team to a single touchdown meets your expectations than I guess you don't expect to ever compete in the Big Ten.

These teams may have good defenses, but guess what? We will play all of them (except Wisconsin) EVERY YEAR! So we sort of need to get better production from our QB.

It's official: you are 100% full of shit and simply don't even bother to check your facts. Coming into yesterday's game Nebraska had the #84 PASS DEFENSE in the nation and your "golden boy" managed to something like 15 yards passing in the 1st half then, by game's end, the following stat line:

13/27, 165, 0, 2

...that's freaking PATHETIC considering how bad The Husker's Pass D has been all season long. Luckily we have the 103rd ranked Pass D, Army, next week, because we're going to have to score to keep up with their O against our O.

*** Please don't even bring up Michigan State, and here's why, so you don't have to bother: they have the #70 pass D in the nation (were 88th prior to Saturday).

Improvise, adapt, overcome. Flood is the opposite of the Marines. Repeat, stall, fail.

Didn't Loviano get suspended for trying to sneak into a bar with a fake ID?
