Basketball Cliff Omoruyi to enter Transfer Portal

I hope he makes a fortune. Thanks for four great years, Cliff.
Maybe give RU a chance to match your best offer?

Edit - just learned from another post that RU would not be allowed to do a trip to Africa 2 years in a row. So there is no legal vehicle in place for us to pay Mawot or Cliff their market value. They are 100% outta here.
Just glad that we are getting all this information early on; now it’s on Pike to replace them. Still a better situation than we were put in last year. Trust me, many other teams will be going through this very same thing.

Im okay with Cliff going and harbor no ill will

4 years here. He owes us nothing. I think both parties benefit from change of scenery

Thank you Cliff for all you did here. You were part of the rebuild here and I will ever be greatful. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Agreed-----always thought he was a kid who gave you his best.

Michigan Cliff was great, Nebraska Cliff was awful. Unfortunely for us there weren't more Michigan Cliffs, but seemed to be a lot of Nebraska Cliffs.

I can understand Cliff wanting to move on with his life and pursue a professional career.

What I don’t understand is why he would want to play at another school with all the potential we have for a great season next year that he could be a big part of.

And I definitely don’t understand people who think it’s best for us to move on. Cliff is one of the best centers RU has ever had and he would be a big piece for us. He’s going to get interest at the highest levels of college basketball. It’s hard for me to imagine that we’re going to come up with a replacement that’s a better for us.
I'm assuming here but I imagine he wants to make money and set up his own life as well as his family's ... We likely can't offer what he's been offered (I'm sure we could always find some loophole to get him paid).

Also, a bit of an extreme take, but if you're pro-capitalism, which I mostly am ... This is just that infiltrating the college ranks. I really don't think anyone can complain if you're pro-capitalism, you're being a hypocrite if you do. (Not directed at you RU82, I'm generalizing)

Actually someone started a thread on this very thing. It's not the graduate part, because he is still on the F1 visa.

Slick Rick is adopting him . . .

Goodby Cliff hope you do well wherever you land.
But tank if and when the program you choose plays Rutgers.
Your leaving might be a win-win, you finding a new home to develop your skills into being NBA ready and getting plenty of playing time to strut your stuff, while Rutgers' new guy Summerville has a chance to show why he might be a one and done.
Sharing minutes might have hurt the NBA draft status of both of you if
Summerville is a one and done

I think the camp that expects us to be fine are crazy. There is no one left from the 2022-23 roster (except Oskar). I can't see chemistry not being an issue

Was it 2022 offseason we had no transfers out (just graduation and RHJ going to the draft)?
And we were lauded for it.

Now we'll have at least 8 new players on the roster and 4 new starters.

I'm seeing multiple rumors that he's headed to St. Johns. I hope they give him $1,000,000, but a WAG would be $750,000.

after the way this season turned out, that might bot be too bad.
Nothing against the players leaving, hope they are happy where they land,
but new faces, mixing in with the ones that return, might make for a better season
in 2024-25 than 2023-24 with a return to the NCAAs

We agree Lathan has great potential
And I think they would have gotten in each other’s way for different reasons
I don’t think Cliff would have done well deferring to all the young guys on the team.
Especially with his handlers whispering how great he is, and the individual aspects of his development needed for his NBA aspirations.
I hope we get 2-3 years out of Lathan

Yeah we will be lucky to go dancing next year and that has nothing to do with or without Cliff. Kids just don’t win at the highest level. We’re going to get abused in conference play next season.

I love B1G Cliff and wish him nothing but the best. But this is very strange and I agree with RU82 here. Go pro by all means. But leave RU for another school is very odd. So much help coming in would allow him to play to his strength. Oh well.

Yep. They're all mercenaries now. What we thought the sport was just a few short years ago is
complete history

If we bring in 2 B1G starters, I think we’ll be ok.

Too bad Rutgers fans are big on opinions day after day but small on donating to the NIL. He is going to get a huge pay day from someone. He was very emotional on senior day he seems to love Rutgers but can’t blame the guy for going for the money. 2 unproven guys are getting big money to come to Rutgers but Cliff gets zilch. Something is wrong with that.

God bless Cliff. His time at Rutgers was entertaining. He was a defensive force under the basket and altered many shots by the opponents .

It is a shame that the Rutgers staff did not develop his offense.

How did he not develop a jump hook over his 4 years at Rutgers ??

Can you imagine if he ends up at UCONN and he and Clingan are in the paint denying every single shot.

Rutgers has a lot of work to do.

not that odd if somebody is offering $100k more than he will get here

ST John’s possibly but watch Rutgers fans show true colors in this thread. He stayed here 4 years earned his degree owes nothing to anyone here and can careless what any of you non NIL participants have to say. ST Johns supposedly has tons of money to burn. Why not get paid he is doing what’s best for him and at the beginning of the transfer portal window.

And at least he’s doing it now and not f’in over the team like some others last year

Sucks but good luck to him

Is Cliff a projected lottery pick? How many times do we have to repeat the money for Ace and Dylan is not coming from RU? It’s a simple ROI question on who invests and a guy that can’t do anything but dunk on offense and is a fringe G league guy isn’t getting that. This is the wild Wild West now, you can tell by how quickly Pike made them make a decision

Points by whom? Who you are guarding?
Team defensive efficiency....
How many points did the opponent score divided by the number of possessions.
Pretty pure gauge of team defense.

Adjusted defensive efficiency is "adjusted" for how good your opponent normally is offensively.

Without knowing what pike is going to bring in you have no basis for that comment

My question is, how can you quantify Cliffs defensive efficiciency over Caleb and Mag?
