Two of the stats that Fox announcers talked about on Saturday was that this was the first time since the 1920s both teams came into the game undefeated and the last time both were ranked in the top 5 coming into the game since the 50's. Harbaugh’s had his team ready again to outplay Ohio State. Agree the he is easily the Big Ten Coach of the Year.

They're idiots if they can't see the great things Schiano is doing here, against all odds, because it's harder to coach at Rutgers than anywhere on earth.

You can't have have a coach win that is in the bottom of the league and overall the team was worse then the year before. The defense was better...that's it.

Guess they decided that they didn't need to make him Coach of the Year so that RU would keep him around and they could continue to administer beatings, like the Big East did with Shea when they made him Coach of the Year after a 5-6 season.

That isn’t accurate , 2006 OSU vs Mich were both undefeated . A #1 OSU vs # 2 Mich . “Game of The Century”. OSU won 42-39, only to get blown out by Florida in the NC game. UF was coached by Meyer.

It didn't sound right but they said something like that after Michigan went ahead the first time.

Michigan got beat in the Rose Bowl that year too

That was the game Ted Ginn, Jr. got hurt celebrating in the end zone after scoring early. He was explosive as a player and it changed the whole game. tOSU couldn’t adjust.

this is setting up perfectly for schiano. 3-6 next year and he wins coach of the year and gets a nice bonus !

Michigan being undefeated in confrence and regular season plus blowing out Ohio St makes Harbaugh a worthy choice

Helluva coach! His coaching, scouting, player development has always been next level and i'm including his nfl time as well....

Naturally this thread had to devolve into a bashing Greg scenario instead of debating about the worthy candidates for the award.
Harbaugh is a excellent coach and was well deserving of the award. Not sure how the voting went but I'd assume the guys at Illinois and Purdue were considered.

And that was without ever winning the BE (or beating UNH)

And that was without ever winning the BE (or beating UNH)

RU at 4-7 was still an infamous loser the year of NH (and the same year RU beat Mich St in a fluke)
RU's average attendance in Schiano's first year was in low 20s
RU should have won BE in 2006 but the team was lost between the ears after L'ville and let Cincy beat them (Schiano teams never handled success well - he couldn't pop the bubbles after big wins)
But RU did beat the BE champ that year (L'ville who finished #6 with only one loss).
I understand the problems people have with Schiano (and I don't like his offenses either) but the guy has won when he had the horses (and he was a notoriously good bowl game coach)

I don't think that was correct. I think both were unbeaten and ranked #1 & #2 in 2006.
