Always interests me to understand local fan expectations. Who's seat is hottest and who are the next stud coaches? Would love to hear people's thoughts and keep thread running as season progresses

Hottest Seats?
Miles - won a lot and big recruiter but not a great game coach to say the least
Stoops - similar to Richt seems lose 1 big game/year
Franklin - how patient is school with 8-win seasons?
Holgorsen - is this just becoming a tough place to recruit?
Addazio - just need new energy

Hottest Coaches?
Herman - duh. OK and/or LSU could come calling
Rhule - can he repeat success?
Narduzzi - if he does well, is Pitt big enough job?

Still not hot.

Stoops' brother Mark at Kentucky might have the warmest seat right now. And you forgot Malzahn who is definitely gone if they don't show rapid improvement.

Jeff Brohm to the candidate list.
Art Briles to the candidate list (yes, he'll be a head coach next year)

Not scorching hot, but more steamy is Helfrich's seat. He has the keys to the Nike kingdom and all the pieces in place, yet the defense continues to get softer and he can't recruit and develop a HS QB.

You might have a self-contained answer there. Forgot about Malzahn - if he gets canned Briles could be a very logical candidate to replace. Auburn's lack of ethics fits perfectly with Briles' standards for running a program (just win and screw everyone else).

No way Bob Stoops is on any hot seat right now. Miles is definitely on a very warm seat right now. If LSU loses another game, outside of Bama, he is a goner.

Darrell Hazell at Purdue.

If Ohio State's defense keeps playing like they have been, Schiano is going to be a red hot candidate.

For the Purdue job or just in general?
Just in general. I should have been more clear. Darrell Hazzell is very much on the hot seat at Purdue. Schiano is going to be a hot candidate the next year or two if they keep playing like this. I'm betting he can do better than Purdue.

I don't think the salary Schiano will want and the $4.45 million Purdue will have to pay Hazell if he's let go makes Greg a candidate for the Boilermakers' position, but will be why he won't be one.

In fact I think Purdue won't fire Darrell until after the 2017 season because of his buyout .

At LSU he is 112-32...if he gets fired they deserve what ever bs follows..

Oregon faithful are getting restless. They missed the boat and let Udub get Chris Petersen. A loss at Nebraska and former OSU coach Mike Riley next week could heat things up even more.

Don't think GS would come back to go to Purdue and get his brains beat in every year. I could see him at BC or at Georgia Tech. Wouldn't be shocked if Urban told him he can't go to another B1G if he hired him.

As far as Schiano

better hope Urban says not to a B1G job....if this defense plays this well all year....he would move ahead of Rhule

His problem is that he does not fit well in the SEC and Big 12 as well as the Southern teams in the ACC.

Dont rule out an NFL job.....

LOL, Franklin isn't on the hot seat. Eight wins this season would be absolutely wonderful.

Also, how the hell is Matt Rhule on speed dial when he lost to freakin' Army at home in Week 1?

Dude...just having fun with the board....those are all prognostications of the past....I hope Franklin stays a long time

I thought Urban had a two year rule for all his assistants? If so I doubt Schiano would screw his friend.

Temple fans on this board who said they would have no problems replacing the players they lost.

Just to clarify again, I don't think and didn't mean to imply that Schiano would go to Purdue. It was two separate thoughts. 1) Hazell is on the hot seat. 2) Schiano is going to be hot.

He generally asks for a two year commitment from his assistants. I wouldn't be surprised if this were the deal for Schiano, but I've never seen it confirmed and I believe Schiano has a 1-year deal.

People still don't think Bob Stoops is on thin ice after getting pummeled again on a national stage? I'm sure Kelly is OK at Notre Dame (especially with some of the coaching disasters they've hired in the past) but does 7-5 or 6-6 make him so secure?

Think Weiss is finally paid off, Kelly's seat will be warm if loses two more games.

Schiano is to good for a crap hole like Purdue. I expect him to get offered by some of the bigger schools that end up looking like potential LSU, Auburn, Baylor ect.

I have to think LSU already has Herman's agent on speed dial, if they haven't been dialing non-stop. Baton Rouge is close enough to Houston that if he can maintain the Texas pipeline to bolster the already talent-rich Louisiana recruiting areas, he could reach new heights.

Did I miss Petrino's name in this thread?
Or Army's coach (Monken)?
Or North Dakota State's coach (Klieman)?
Purdue's coach, who spent time in Piscataway on his climb up the coaching ranks, has two former Purdue QB's playing as transfers at SEC programs -- that's not good.

Miles seat is scorching hot I would think. How about Kelly - besides losing at home to Duke he just looks like the biggest dickhead loser on the sidelines blaming everyone but himself. Franklin shouldn't feel too secure either, right?

Well someone got burned already. in case you did not see, Ron Turner got fired at FIU today.

Also, Notre Dame fired the DC, Brian VanGorder.

Let the fun begin!

Hazel almost got fired last year.
My understanding is Schiano doesn't have the two year agreement. Urban won't care if he went to a B1G school. I think you guys overrate his stock.
Love the coaching carousel. Glad we aren't on it.
Keep an eye on the guy at Texas State. Was DC at OSU then HC at JMU now Texas State. Mehringer was his OC

Herman is about to make some serious coin. I can absolutely envision a scenario where USC, Texas, and LSU are looking for new coaches by the end of the year and enter a bidding war. 5mm seems to be the floor of what he will make.

With 2 wins this year over Big 10 teams, PJ Fleck at W Michigan will be getting a lot of interest after the season ends, maybe before.

As tainted as Art Briles is , he will be getting calls from colleges that don't care about media scrutiny, the guy can flat out coach.

Tom Herman can call his shots.

IF LSU makes a move, Art Briles could replace Les Miles there.

ND's Def Coordinator, VanGourter (sp?) on very thin ice.
