Cole Snyder- Congrats

Congrats Cole Snyder! My daughter had him pose for a photo at a party for a bday text to me one year. Glad he had a chance to play more somewhere and develop.

So how does #9 in the B1G compare to #3 in the MAC?
There isn't really a way to compare, but fans will use mental gymnastics to put the accomplishments down. Less talented defenses against less talented offensive talent (OL, TEs, receivers). It doesn't really matter. Cole was all in when he was here, wanted to stay here, but it was made clear that the path was cleared for Gavin, and he made a wise decision to leave where he was given a shot and had a decent first year.

Not directed at you, but there are a couple of posters went way out of their way to denigrate his accomplishments last year.
271/461 (58.8% completions) 3030 yards, 18 TDs, 8 INTs.
It's been a long time since a Rutgers QB put up numbers like that, and that is a combination of several issues, which are not limited to QB play.

And then do mental gymnastics to justify why our players transferring up are different and their lower level stats do matter and translate.

Cole transfer to Buffalo "Doesn't matter. He couldn't do that here. Can't compare to a Big Ten schedule. However, FCS WRs should immediately be able to handle the Big Ten and serve as the starting WRs. FCS all American counts for something."

It's like the 3D transitive theory of winning games.
Who knows how Cole would have done if he stayed here. Maybe he was not getting the coaching that was right for him with Gleeson, and maybe it would have been better or worse for him under Kirk C. The quality of coaching and how well the coaching is received by the player matters. Some players don't connect or learn well from some coaches. Cole was fairly open about why he left, and he accepted that he was not going to be given the starting QB shot. Should he continue to improve at Buffalo in the next 2 years, the odds are not in his favor to play in the NFL coming from the MAC, nor are his measurables that great, although he is listed at 6'2", and:

And there are some posters who go out of their way to denigrate Gavin, like insinuating being the #9 QB in the B1G means he sucks. Earlier in this thread I congratulated Cole. And I repeat that. But you can do that without denigrating Gavin.

Where did I denigrate Gavin? Perhaps when you said "you," you were referring to those denigrating Gavin.

I have gone out of my way in multiple threads that the problem is not necessarily with our QBs, but the entire offense, starting with poor pass blocking allowing the QB time to read and make a throw, poor receiver play including route running and hands, ditto for the tight ends.
IIRC, I did a couple of Zapruder analyses of games where several of Gavin's incompletions were not because of "accuracy," but because either the receiver dropped the ball, did not run the route, or he threw the ball out of bounds to avoid a sack/loss. Did he have some bad throws? Sure. Aaron Rodgers has bad throws too. He probably had a lot more bad throws early in his college career.

Whether Cole would have been good at RU can't be proven
But I won't claim he wouldn't have done better then who played.
Just will say the situation at Buffalo was and is different and his success there
could because of the team he plays on now is better in their conference than Rutgers is in the B1G

Great to support Cole.
Never can tell when a player transfers if he'll do better or not.
Sometimes change is needed and the new program does fit better than the one left.

He had a good game against the Rams, but in a losing cause
Which had nothing to do with Cole Snyder. The defense choked.
Last time a Rutgers QB threw for over 250 yards, 3 TD and 0 INTs in a game:
Artur Sitkowski against UTSA in 2021- Oh wait, that's after he left Rutgers and went to Illinois. 😂

Gary Nova, 2014- twice in one year--- but our fans did not like him either.

Save your reply that it was against Fordam.

OK he played well while his team sucked
He is the #3 QB statically in the MAC
so that's pretty good.

I just don't know if he'd have been successful if he stayed.
But right now I really can't say if any QB on today's roster will prove to be a good one

interesting.. 4 years of Nova.. one of them good... nearly great. 2 of them bad.

I liked Sitkowski better than Nova. He had a great arm and stood in to deliver the ball in the face of PAIN coming. Nova did not do that.

We had people on the bench while Nova was here who could have played. Not so much while Sitkowski was here. If SItkowski was allowed to fail for 2 years and still start in years 3 and 4 maybe we would have gotten a great year out of him too.

While looking at stats below.. think of the talent Nova had on the team vs what Sitkkowski had.. and the competition each faced. I'd argue that had we not gone with the RPO and OC Gleeson who brought in Vedral... Sitkowski would have done well in a more traditional offense as GS improved the cast of characters. Same for Snyder.. pushed aside because of the style of offense.. and I'd guess Simon probably has already improved a great deal simply because of the OC and system changes... and getting a year older.

Nova - I think of both his int from throwing backward while horizontal and all those long ones Caroo stole from defenders for TDs. Underthrown jump balls.

Buffalo isn't looking to good this year, just lost to Liberty 55-27
now the Bulls are 0-3

edit:this is not a knock on Snyder he has a real bad team to work with
I feel , with the way the RU passing game looks to me, Cole might have been a good option for the starting job.
