6/8 for 115 yards in first quarter against Bowling Green today. 4 runs for 26 yards.
2022 stats 109/181 (60.2%) 1214 yards 8 TDs, 3 INT, 3 Rushing TDS and 85 yards rushing.

He's no good.

Now that we’ve played every qb on the roster, people are going to other schools for the backup qb debate 😂
You're an idiot sometimes. You shit all over Simon with no basis in fact.
Simon demonstrated ability here, but our coaches and message board geniuses thought he sucked too.

The point, genius, is take a functional QB and put him in a functional offense, and he thrives. Next time, I'll draw a picture for you.

What ability did Simon demonstrate? He can’t read and keeps force the ball into double coverage.

See my other posts. You are never going to develop a QB in our current yo-yo offensive with a revolving cast of characters between plays, stopping the QB to look to the sidelines, giving him 3 seconds to read the defense, etc, etc.

I look at it different- Why the flaming F- can we not find a QB in 8 years?????
This times a million. It's a solid question. Looking all over college football you see them at all different levels but not at Rutgers. Is it offensive philosophy, coach, dislike for NJ? Geez

Simon is awful and gave the game away. He has no pocket presence, is slow, locks onto receivers and is not accurate. Oh yeah he’s also INT happy.

Hope Simon transfers out and proves you wrong. 90% of what is wrong with the offense and the QB play is on coaching and play calling. Simon is far from perfect. I posted Teel's stats as a freshman -lower completion %, 2TDs and 10 INTs. He developed. Simon will not develop in this circus sideshow offense.

If that was your point, you did not make it as well as you usually make your points. It sounded like you were saying that we'd be better off if Snyder had stayed here and that he would be superior to Simon. At least that's how I (and the poster you're calling an idiot) took it.

I have pointed out several times that maybe if we truely developed a #2, maybe we would have an effective #2 this year…..this not naming a #2 and playing musical chairs has really hurt our program in my opinion! I see what Snyder is doing at UB and feel we lost an asset because of poor QB management….we spent 3-years developing him and now UB is starting to thrive offensively under his leadership….I also wonder if Simon’s season would be playing out differently if we managed him better as well?

Maybe NJ high schools have not produced a lot of quality QBs to choose from. Obviously the state has developed a reputation as being fertile recruiting grounds, but perhaps a little thin at QB. I don’t know the subject well enough but who have been some of the better QBs over that time who have done well at P5 schoolsand more importantly did RU recruit any of them or did any show any interest in RU. Of those currently playing, I guess Leary at NCState is the best of the bunch. I know there have a few highly touted NJ QBs who left the state but did not have solid collegiate careers or were asked to change positions.

If we played Buffalo’s schedule even with all of our injuries we would go 11-1 or 12-0.

Snyder is pretty good but he chose to go home and START with Vedral and Wimsatt being the heir apparent here and he was ahead of Simon last year. If he had stayed he might be our starter. Or he might not have been.

I hope he stays and success here. Why would you want him to succeed elsewhere? Our fans don’t get it. They hated Nova and Teel and they were our best QB’s since we have played a real schedule except for Mike McMahon. Oh yeah, he was blasted on the old board as well.

Teel was pretty rough as a freshman and that was after a RS year. We tend to forget that as fans because Ryan Hart was still here to bail out the season.

Another fan bashing stupid thread by the OP. He must not know that Bowling Green isn't in the Big Ten.

Correct, we don't have a Ryan Hart. We have an injured Noah Vedral who could not play until Friday, and even then, he could not really play more than a few downs or to full ability.
As far as my "hope" for Simon, I actually hope he stays, and my point was that one of our bigger problems is pass protection and play calling that are not setting up our QBs to succeed. I rewatched Simon's INTs, and one of them seemed to be a miscommunication between Simon and Jones. The other was when he was getting yanked in and out of an offensive series.

But, he made the throws, and he owns them. On the down side, he does tend to stare down his target too much. On the one where he and Jones were not on the same page, he did look off to the other side of the field, but he threw to Jones' incorrect side, who was breaking to the sideline, while Simon threw towards the middle. Maybe he was trying to send a signal to the coaches that there's nothing wrong with passing toward the middle of the field? 😜

I rewatched the plays too. Sorry - I don’t see a positive spin on Evan’s game. He simply doesn’t know when to throw the ball away. It’s a very big problem with his game.

The old we should have kept a player because he's doing good against lesser competition then he'd face if he stayed if my answer to the implication being made by the OP.
Heck, just about every QB RU faced has been dubbed Johnny Unitas by many on this board and now we can add Cole to that list.as a lost Norm Van Brocklin .

I feel good that Snyder is having success as a Bull, but fear he'd not do so well as a Knight .
Evan might not be the Earl Morrall savior and more like Lee Grosscup so far, but I doubt Snyder would either in this RU offensive machine.
Cole might have just been a Don Heinrich type if he stayed.instead of a Bart Starr like some might want to imply

Nope.
Glad the kid escaped the insane offensive scheme Gleeson was running and he has an opportunity to display his talents. Three sport athlete in high school that played hockey. The young man is a baller. Rutgers' loss is Buffalo's gain, and he is playing closer to home. Good for him.

Snyder flashed early on when he played against Penn State. He had some rough moments last year, but not enough reps to see what he could really do.

The other point is we could have used another scholarship QB on the roster this year. But it was not to be.

Like I said, glad Cole is doing well at Buffalo.
But I also realize the Bulls don't face the same type of competition Evan has been playing against..
Also when a RU player isn't playing up to snuff ,the useal we coould have used so and so posts pop up about a player who left.
Your thread is just another message like that.

You are still missing the point. Rutgers sorely needs another scholarship QB. They let Snyder leave and never got another. Snyder (or a transfer portal QB) could have filled that role.
But you are entitled to your misinterpretation of what I am thinking.

vs Maryland Snyder went 18/35 for 160 (no TDs, no INTs) and 10 runs(proly sacks too) for 16 yards

Not great.. but he was on Buffalo's team playing against AT Big Ten's Maryland.

It would have been interesting to see what a Snyder/Simon/Wimsat QB room might have done... though Gleeson would still be there.

We needed a big change.. we got it

Fingers crossed.

you started this thread with:

and I misinterpreted your message ???
Don't think so.
When Snyder left Galvin and Noah were healthy ,Evan was considered a third string..
So I'm not sure if another scholarship QB was an absolute need when Cole left..
But as it looks now you have a good point in saying one was needed.and I feel one should have been included when getting commits from the class of 2022.
Going portal for a QB for this year's roster seems like a good idea, but also raises the possibility of Simon moving on.
But the way Evan seems to b over-matched, the gamble of bringing in an experienced QB and causing Simon to depart looks like a good gamble because the QB position isn't producing this year.
