Evaluation, acquisition, and development. Everybody gets excited about the first 2. The failure is in the development. The bad QB play at RU for nearly a decade is a coaching problem. That's why the answer at QB has always either transferred or is in high school. Of the last 11 OCs RU has had, Friedgen was the only one who actually taught the position. It's no coincidence that Nova was the last competent QB at RU.
My guess --it's just my guess -- is that playing QB is much different in college than in high school. In high school, a QB can succeed with a big arm alone. A college QB needs a big arm (that's Vedral's weakness), but also needs to go through progressions, understand a complex offense, and know when to throw the ball away. So it's no surprise to me that it's hard to evaluate and develop QBs. But what do I know?
It's... something. We need to see pics to know if it was winning or not. I mean, what if she had a mole or pointy elbows or something? 😉

Lewis wasn't the first. D.C. Jefferson was a HS QB that was also converted into a TE. There will always be plenty of fairy dust to sprinkle on QB recruits.
I think Galvin would have left if we would have bought in a more polished QB , He definitely the future QB we need so I believe the coaches didn’t expect Noah to get hurt in practice but things happen and it’s not the end of the world .
You're far from the only poster who says that Gavin is "definitely the future QB we need." What is your basis for saying that? I'm not saying you and the others who say that are wrong: I just would like a better idea of why you and others think that way.

my opinion is after 3 seasons Cole found himself falling in the depth chart, knew Gavin was being setup for the starters roll with Noah a bridge to that and felt for playing time leaving was his best option
My opinion, which I think I stated above, is the QB room would have been much stronger if Cole had stayed, and he would have likely rose above Simon. But we don't know how that would have worked out. But I agree with you it was his best option to leave. Just wonder who did the QB evaluations the last two seasons.

He was an Ash recruit and both Simon and Wimsatt were higher rated recruits and had more size so I think the coaches looked more on this than actual performance. He probably was our best qb last year and would be this year and we beat Neb if he was starting that game. He is playing at a lower level but has lower level OL blocking and receivers that are not as good, but he is getting it done.
Agree. To suggest that anyone is to blame for "letting him leave" is overly simplistic at best. No evidence that Snyder got "the talk". Not saying he didn't, just no evidence that he did.

Glad he found a functional offense to display his abilities. Nobody can say either way how he would have performed at RU had he stayed. BTW, Buffalo's HC is in his second year.
