I do Yale radio and have, with others an Ivy website. Jim Engles needs to win let's say 6 Ivy games or he is done. Ace recruiter Tobe Carberry who came over from Yale brought in arguably the best Ivy class highlighted by smooth Blair Thompson who would be a solid Big East recruit. Holdovers De La Rosa and Shockley-Oweke and shoot it and create as well. They have no one who can remotely defend Cliff but it Caleb is still out it could be close for 20 minutes. If the Columbia frosh, which also include Avery Brown and Kenny Noland grow up quickly and hit 3's,an area where we know Rutgers is vulnerable then it could be a game throughout. The Ivy is vastly underrated.

Wait, what do you mean you do Yale radio?

You mean ads on the radio for Yale padlocks?
Or are we talking play-by-play or color commentary for their mens hoops program?

Did you do sports radio as a student?

Engles was at NJIT before taking the Columbia job. Essentially built that program from the dirt. You would think Columbia would be an easier build but I get the sense they invest less in their athletic programs than all the other ivies.

Every opening week, there are a surprise or 2 game, each and every night. It doesn't mean a team loses a game, but the game is way closer than it's expected to be.

The bottom line is these games are statement and resume saving games for the smaller schools or an Ivy, which gets a quality road game AND a check in some instances to make the visit. These teams can launch 3s with nothing to lose and sometimes the game becomes the test of tests.

I think what caused RU trouble in many years before Pikes arrival, was a lack of depth or qualified depth off the bench.....and if the starters weren't completely dialed in, you had upsets almost every year.

The games are vital for young players to learn and hopefully play well. Even though bigger things are expected from Mag and perhaps Hyatt and Simpson as well, it is also imperative that Mulcahy plays aggressively and attacks to score against a Columbia, then starts making passes to open teammates. A passive or neutral Mulcahy, could spell trouble against anyone, especially with Caleb likely expected to be out for a while.

Also was great to have that exhibition game against Fairfield rather than just a scrimmage; I think we have a much deeper bench than we have had in some time so Pikell has different options depending on the game

Wait. Do we know Caleb is out for a while??

I've only heard fan chatter, is it real?

I think we need an aggressive Mulcahy every night and this team can achieve great things as he could really open up our offense to get himself and so many people involved

Does anyone remember Columbia's greatest victory against Rutgers in the fall of 1976? This was after Rutgers' magical 1975-76 season. Columbia won. The headline in the Columbia Daily Spectator the next day: "Rutgers, Go to Hell!"

It was quite a game.

As an alum of both schools, I can say that Columbia can be very good at times and should not be underestimated.

So Columbia are having a horrible season so far. No surprise based on their showing at the RAC.

They blew a two possession lead in the last few seconds at Binghamton the other day.

And tonight at the half they trail perennial powerhouse Marist.

22 to 10.

10!

You either have a lot of time on your hands or are a professional gambler to be following the Columbia/Binghamton game
