Deshawn Freeman

Are you kidding? He’s undersized for the position he plays and holds his own for sure. Senior leader and can be counted on game in and game out. You’re totally off base.

It’s not that many of us don’t appreciate what he does for us. It’s about playing to strengths and only your weakenesses when forced to. He too often dribbles himself into a bad position for his size and skill set

Never thought I would see someone throwing up more than Laviano did to Carroo

13 Pts and 9 Reb tonight. Team’s high scorer for the game. Might not be the night to criticize...

Exactly

I get tired of people dissing Freeman He had a team high 13 pts, 9 Rebs, 1block, 1 steal

How about Corey? 2-15 . Throwing up bricks, Getting stuffed.
a total embarassment tonight

no problem with Freeman except one bad 3 pointer. he needs to stop shooting them.

But it’s legit to ask if a player who shot 3-10 tonight should’ve passed instead of taking many of those shots. The last 3 games Freeman has shot 12-44 (27%). And most of his shots are close to the basket.

his rebounding is not a question. He scored his points on 3 of 10 shooting. And he has trouble finishing (yes like most on this team)...but I could score 13pts if I took 20 shots.
Team shot 26%... its more than just how many points you score.

Clearly we have 3 big returning experienced players we are counting on. none of them are carrying the load. SCORING with a higher % make ratio IS the problem if you consider we had three really close games against quality teams we "could" have actually won (1) . NO,not his fault...but he is a contributing factor on the O side.

Thank you

To be fair, what was Corey Sanders' shooting percentage? .133. Our little Who has been a member for only a few weeks, and has already posted 87 messages and received 39 likes. Pretty impressive, huh? Entitles him to a little chipmunk journalism. Very little.

he was playing really well end of last season..within the game. even making some threes. but he has reverted back to that get the ball, never pass out, spin, force.
whatever Pike said last year he needs to say again.

His rebounding has been very good, but Freeman has been playing way to selfishly for my liking and his dismal shooting percentage reflects that. Too many one-on-two and one-on-three forced shot attempts and countless missed layups. He shot 30% tonight and is shooting 37% for the year. Those are awful numbers for a PF, undersized or not. If Eugene could board better I’d give him more of Deshawn’s minutes. (By comparison Eugene is shooting 52%, which is the type of number you want from your Big10 PF).

The OP may have been a little harsh but it's a fair point. There is an excessive amount of poor shot selection from DF and outside of put backs, he is not great finishing around the rim. It might benefit the team to kick some of those out instead of making up his mind ahead of time that he's shooting come hell or high water. He hd one play where he actually kid dish it and Doorson drew the fouled on an easy attempt. Need more of that IMO.
His intensity and tenaciousness on the boards are incredible and fill a huge role for the team, but the wasted trips are rough.
And yes, Cory was awful but this thread was about DF.
