Did RU lose its opportunity to terminate Flood's contract with cause?

In my opinion, yes. I thought RU was just waiting for the e-mail investigation to conclude that in fact Flood had violated a stipulation on his contract allowing Rutgers to terminate for cause. Based on the evidence, RU would not be in the hook for remainder of his contract. Now with this lame 3 game suspension, I'd assume RU cannot use this e-mail episode to fire him in the future without having to pay the buyout. Just my 2 cents.

That would be sad if true. I was thinking they may have thought a quick firing was more likely to bring a legal proceeding and they want to negotiate something with him quietly while suspended. You may have a point that you cannot penalize a guy twice for the same infraction.

There buying time so they can get the right coach from another program, or waiting for schiano to get all the Tampa money first

???
Cause? There is no "CAUSE" here? Just a Goodell-Type bad decision that will make it MUCH more expensive
to hire a new Coach when/if Coach Floyd takes a sideways job. As my boss said, best thing is Coach took the
high-road here, and perhaps this gets patched up before the season ends.

You do recall Schiano had a losing record? In Big East conference play, Greg lost 2 games for every game he won. History is very kind, but let us understand Schiano is not the answer!

Regardless of what he did, if he ultimately gets fired Rutgers will have to pay. It is rare to let an executive or coach at his level go without a severance payment and other benefits. His contract will only serve as a base line or starting point. The separation agreement would normally take a week or two to negotiate with legal representation of both parties. It's ain't over till it's over.

Who do you have in mind that's better?

Schiano knows how NJ works. He built this program from the ground up. He has NFL experience. He won't ever let something like this happen.

Not sure about that. Did Rutgers pay Mike Rice after firing him? RU is under no obligation to fulfill its obligation under contract if Flood violated its provisions.

Cause...
"In the law, a cause of action is a set of facts sufficient to justify a right to sue to obtain money, property, or the enforcement of a right against another party. "

Oh you know, someone else. He's not Snyder, who left with success. He got us to his ceiling. He left a week before NSD. I don't want him back. We need to find someone else

I agree, even Mike Rice was able to get severance.

Ok then.

Who?
Who knows? It's week 3 in the season. There's no coaching carousel yet. If he's gone gone, put the interim tag on Wilson. Get through the season, then search. Don't just go back to your ex because she might be the only one you thought you cared about. The one might still be out there

Fair enough. Most likely Flood is gone at the end of the season. I still think Greg is the best candidate.

No. They still have cause. The 3 games was not a guarantee he will be back.

His buyout is minimal and certainly would NOT keep us from firing him if we want to do as much.

Think it will be hard to justify for cause firing after suspending Flood .
Maybe if they terminated Flood for his actions and players behavior there might be a ( slim) chance of justifying firing Flood for cause, but not after punishing him already.
If the NCAA finds Flood violated one or more of their statutes, maybe then RU could let Kyle go for cause
but it still might be hard to make that stick and avoid buyout.

It's a nice dream. But there's no way Schiano is coming back here.
Are you personal friends with Greg Schiano? Do you know something we don't know?

Look I know he's cozy in Florida and is getting paid millions to not coach, but people change their minds. He was going to take the head coach position at Michigan before he changed his mind and decided to stay with dear old Rutgers (though it was only a few more years).

Schiano wants to coach again. Why can't it be at Rutgers? Again?

Yes and most likely, no.

Yes, RU can't fire with cause over the violation of univ policy which is stated for his actions in regards to Nadir/Instructor.

The most likely no answer is if RU wants to fire with cause...it can probably find another violation from hundreds and hundreds of Univ and/or NCAA policy that might follow.

When you are suspended/probationary requirements, it is much easier for the Univ to fire with cause for any future violations of policy/rules, almost no matter how important and/or vital.
