The Pac-12 would have secured a media deal similar to the ACC, and by 2025 the deal would grow to $42 million. The least-watched Power 5 conference considered their value closer to SEC and B1G. The Pac-12 asked ESPN for a deal north of $50 million, and ESPN turned and walked away. That same deal was offered to the Big 12, and they accepted it. ESPN valued the west coast teams/markets more than Big 12 country. The Big 12 has no teams of equal value as USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon or markets the size of L.A., San Fran/Oakland, and Seattle. The last few Pac-12 commissioners and school presidents have been deaf, dumb, and blind to an opportunity to secure its future while killing off the threat of another Power 5 conference trying to rip it apart.
