Dont care if anyone comes back...

none above should be starters. JWill and Grant possibly should but it may be a 40 ppg team if Derknado, Davis, Lathan, Ogbole, Grant, JWill and Dortch are in the rotation.

I never said starters. Ogbole should be a 12ish mpg back up to a center not on the roster yet. Davis and J Will are fine as back ups too. J Will would probably log more minutes if he returned because he can back up multiple positions. The jury is still out on future roles for the frosh but I’d certainly want them to return vs not. No transfer is not coming to Rutgers because of any of them posing a threat to PT for any established starter on a decent team IMO. With a schollie cap of 15 the game of musical chairs is not technically needed.

That’s why I say it’d be wrong to say we want them all to leave. We’re not going to replace the deep bench with better. There’s no way. A back up whose been in our system a year plus is going to be be better than one new to the program - aka our 7th pick up or whatever in the portal.

The end of the Purdue bench lit us up . Except for Grant and JWill, everyone’s got to go. Bring in three more starters and a backup. if you want to keep a couple keep Ogbole and Dortch as limited PT reserves.

Derknado, Iverson Davis, and Lathan Stationary should not put on the Rutgers Uniform again after the season ends, the Good Lord willing.

I’d keep Lathan over Williams since I have zero confidence he brings in a better big, but otherwise I agree. I think we’re stuck with Derkack and there’s no reason for Davis to drop down where he belongs when Pike loves him and will play him, unfortunately.

Good analysis but I disagree on finding a better big. Lathan Stationary doesn’t play like a big anyway, so any viable big would be an improvement.

That is the main problem with this team for the last 2 yrs, no one returned from last years team. There is no one left from 22-23 on 24-25 and only 3 players came back from 23-24 to teach Pikes system to the new players.

22-23 we lost 7 to graduation/transfer, 6 scholarships, 1 walkon
23-24 we lost 13 to graduation/transfer, 10 scholarships, 3 walkons

We had only a combined 1119 out of 6425 returning minutes, Davis 716, JWill 322 and Ogbole 81. It's just not a winning formula for a defensive mind coach with only offensive players
I have been saying this for months ….but the real question is WHY???

Why could not recruit after we turned the corner in 2019-2020???

Why can’t we keep our players ???

This is what needs to be flushed out

Totally agree. The staff needs a to retain as many players as possible and then help develop them. The three freshman should be the priority. In the portal, I’d much rather have them target quality or quantity. You need guys who can play at this level and preferably one shooter/scorer and one pf/c who can rebound, defend in the post, and offer some rim protection.
