I think we need it... but to use it like Urban Meyer does. When you have game situations where you know you can catch the D with the wrong personnel on the field.. do the hurry-up no-huddle. And every player on the field should be aware of the down and distance and recent plays and subs on both sides to predict when we will go hurry-up. It is a fairly easy concept. When you line up for a 3rd and short and you allowed the D to sub in the big bodies, everyone on offense should know that if we make it we are going again and are going to spread them.. hurry-up, no-huddle.
Maybe sub QBs for situations as well.. like when we think we can stretch the field with deep balls and we have good matchups, go with Rettig. For the short stuff, let Laviano run it. Like all things scheme-related, we need to be smart about it and well-practiced to execute it well. Scrapping it should not be an option.
