Don't sell a CBI bid short

Forgive me if some of these things were already covered.
In the past two years only 2 Power 5 schools have been invited to the CBI.
Maryland (19-13) last year and Auburn (18-14) the year before. Both declined.
Show me a way we get to 18 wins and I say play in the tournament.
Otherwise we watch TV again in March.

bingo, bango.

Pitt a perennial ncaa tourney qualifier at the time accepted the CBI bid in 2012 and won the thing and then went to the ncaa tourney the following year. In 2010, VCU accepted the bid to the CBI and won the thing and the following year went to the final 4. And we're too good to play in the CBI? Come on.

Maybe there’s a clue in the psyche of the coach.

Two-time captain under Calhoun at UConn.

In his offices he builds empty shelves to signify his program goals...league champions, NCAA bid, etc. I guarantee there’s no CBI shelf.

Could be dead-ass wrong, but just don’t think the guy is wired that way.

We’re going to Europe this summer , so as much as I believe in getting more reps (especially for a young team), it wouldn’t be that bad to end the season and attack our off-season program with a ton of vigor. We’ll probably be fine either way.

There is a lot of individual talent development that needs to take place, and sometimes playing in games doesn’t sharpen those skills.

Coaches get burnt out too
