Enough with the train horn on 3rd down

You think this is bad, in a Big 10 Network televised lacrosse game vs Penn St the horn got stuck. They went to a commercial and it was still blowing when NJ be they came back. I think it was ,2017.

haha you mean to tell me our 60% full student section chants so loudly and succinctly that its audible on TV ?!!?? Yea. No.

What is audible is the Mickey Mouse train horn being completely over used for everything.
In the past it has been heard clearly on TV. Have to imagine there were discussions about how to mask it.

So you’re going to give away tinnitus to 50k fans so that tv can’t hear Rutgers version of Potvin Sucks chant?

BTW, there’s no chant while UM is setting up for that last second FG as they held the horn for 15 seconds.
It the students consistently stop chanting it, there's a good chance we hear less if the horn. I don't expect that any time soon, tbh

I hate that horn, maybe we should just fire the cannon on every 3rd down LOL. Only blow the horn when we start the game and as time runs out in games we win.

Contact the other B1G schools who chant bad words every chance they get and somehow TV and advertisers deal with it. Find out what they do besides not bow and scrape.

Couldn't the band play something the way college football used to third down if that's the reason.

If it's "supposedly" not being drowned out by 110db Metallica, the band that just got blown off the field by Easton Area HS ain't gonna do it.

I sit in the north end zone and everyone around me complained about it at some point. I also saw UM fans putting their hands over their ears.

It was a cute additional 10 years ago. The guy running it is completely obnoxious to the point I want to find them and beat them over the head with the horn itself.

Probably is no one really cares. Hobbs totally aloof again with improving the RU fan experience in the Stadium.

It’s so low budget. Listen to these SEC games on tv. You hear the BAND not some bullshit blaring horns. It’s god awful and embarrassing

It's there a rule that says we can't play some other obnoxious loud noise when the student section starts up? Or perhaps a variety of obnoxious loud noises throughout the game? Why does it have to be this particular obnoxious loud noise (that everyone hates) over and over again?

Yeah, there are definitely better ways if their intent is to stop the chant. Playing a different third down song is probably the easiest, but really anything that they do is going to cause criticism. Personally, I am no fan of the incessant train horn - it's not bad as the occasional accent sound, but it is way way way overused.

Exactly what I said. If it was truly “big donors” that want to do away with the chant the easiest solution would be to change the song. That’s why I don’t believe it is donors and more game day operations solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

I highly doubt it's donors. Why would they care? More likely it's either a number of fan complaints about it not promoting a family-friendly atmosphere, or it's networks telling them it's bad for business.

We're already scattershot enough with our themes. Knights, revolutionary war cannon, axes.... and mass transit? Personally, I'd like to see us lean harder into the "knights" concept, but the risk there is becoming a medieval times knockoff.

What is the chant? Obviously something foul, right?

At Maryland basketball, they have tried everything they can think of to stop the kids from singing "Hey! You Suck!" at the other team just after the opening tip-off. The result is that the tradition has become more entrenched than ever. (Listen in the background of any game at Maryland and you will hear it)...

Someone should be fired at this point for continuing this abomination. It's unbearable.

It was better than two games ago when I started a thread complaining and filled out a survey for the first time just to complain.

My rec would be filling out the survey again as it has regressed. Ask to be contacted. Clearly they're realizing this is pissing the fans off.

I don't think it's any better. Many have complained on here, in the survey and via emails, calls and conversations. Sadly, it seems like the only thing that may move the needle is if people start threatening to not renew season tickets and withhold donations. We're at that point.

The stadium was rocking when RU was coming out onto the field. They really had things pumped and the crowd was into it. As they come out.....'BBBLLLLLAAAAAAHHHHH' completely drowning the entire thing and replacing it with that horn. WTF?

Yeah I remember that. I just stopped clapping and making noise at that point.

Complain every week when they ask for comments on game day - sitting in North end zone is particulary annoying
