Heard a first last night. Toward the end of the fourth quarter Mich fans in that corner were chanting "fire the cannon". Cheered when did as the clock ran out.
Double cannisterFire the cannon at the other team
You probably thought they were saying “block that kick” like most of the visiting fans that come to the stadium.I'm calling BS on this alleged "F@ck Penn State" chant EVERY 3rd down?
Really?
And it's so prevalent they started playing the horn?
I'm going to need video evidence.
I sat Section 102 - Row 8 for Nebraska (literally next to student section) and never heard anything.
Midfield, and never ever heard it, including the infamous navy game when it was supposedly directed at the navy teamI'm calling BS on this alleged "F@ck Penn State" chant EVERY 3rd down?

The problem the crowd isnt loud enough so they need something to be loud.
I sit in 229, and it is pretty much every third down for a number of seasons now... unless it's late in the game and the student section has already cleared out.I'm calling BS on this alleged "F@ck Penn State" chant EVERY 3rd down?

Meanwhile at LSU, they gladly accept the NCAA fine. good ole New JerseyIt's to drown out the students F Penn State chant
I sit in the north end zone and everyone around me complained about it at some point. I also saw UM fans putting their hands over their ears.
It was a cute additional 10 years ago. The guy running it is completely obnoxious to the point I want to find them and beat them over the head with the horn itself.
Here is my though:
Eliminate the horn because it has nothing to do with Rutgers tradition.
Replace it with the real sound of the bells ringing atop Old Queens
The Bells Must Ring
Oh it happened.Midfield, and never ever heard it, including the infamous navy game when it was supposedly directed at the navy team
Not saying it didn’t happen, but the sound did not carry well enough I guess
Yes I don’t doubt it happenedOh it happened.
Rutgers Tom, who was a student at Rutgers when it happened and is now an Editor at the NY Times broke it, and the f-ing jackoff who wrote the article about it, down beautifully.
Breaking — Rutgers Fans Hate America!
I’m getting something off the wire here, let me see what it says… Oh My! It seems that Rutgers fans, the very fans who once had a bad football team and and empty stadium and class, are…41miles.wordpress.com
Personally, I think we should have some medieval war drums. It would be awesome sounding, unique and fit with our mascot. Here is my though:

Opposing fans always mock the cannon people when we can't score.Heard a first last night. Toward the end of the fourth quarter Mich fans in that corner were chanting "fire the cannon". Cheered when did as the clock ran out.
5 to 10 kids did it. It was a hack writer looking to go coast-to-coast that turned it into something it wasn't.Yes I don’t doubt it happened
Some posters here said it wasn’t as bad as when they do it to Penn State because some students didn’t go along with it
I was in the front row of section 206 when that chant started. It was more than 5-10 kids but as soon as it was loud enough for people to hear, the rest of the stadium began booing them and it stopped. I doubt the whole thing lasted more than 30 seconds.5 to 10 kids did it. It was a hack writer looking to go coast-to-coast that turned it into something it wasn't.
I'll concede 15 and I think that's a stretch but that's it. I was right by the tunnel.I was in the front row of section 206 when that chant started. This is what I remember hearing and we got hammered in the pressI'll concede 15 and I think that's a stretch but that's it. I was right by the tunnel.
I also think 30 seconds is a lot longer than it lasted.
I'm sure DiIonno's Orange masters bought him a case of Scotch when that drivel got picked up across the country. This is what I remember hearing and we got hammered in the press
I had somebody mention it to me not too long ago
This has probably been going on the past few years to some extent without my noticing it but - watching the highlights of the first half, after our blocked punt TD they even played the horn over the Cannon, drowning it out. Unacceptable (coming from a guy that works for the railroad). It's actually pretty annoying watching the game on TV as well. It's just way too long.
Commented in another thread why announce a start time for the PSU game? Just wait in the lots for the horn to start and not stop once kickoff happens. The PA guy might as well hold the horn down all game long with the way it’s used.
