Someone sent me a projection for the rest of the B1G regular season that had RU finishing up in 11th place, with a day 1 matchup with Penn State. While that sounds like something very realistic (I would sign up for that today), there's a long way to go and a lot of shuffling still yet to happen with the spots from 9 through 14.

I think PSU is still ticketed for 14th, being 3 games behind everyone in front of them, but they still have 2 games with Illinois and one left Northwestern tonight and one with RU, so they may think they can get something done the rest of the way to not finish last.

If Illinois beats RU on Saturday and sweeps PSU in their home and home, I think they're likely to finish as high as 10th in the standings or even 9th, if they can also beat Indiana. I think RU's path to not playing in the 1st day of the Big Ten tournament starts with Penn State winning at Northwestern tonight and then RU winning at Northwestern in a week or so. That could push RU high enough to perhaps finish ahead of Nebraska, Northwestern Penn State and I would think either Indiana or Illinois. The Indiana/Illinois matchup in a couple of weeks, may be a tiebreaker of sorts.

I am not sold on Indiana's win at Michigan State being some sort of turnaround, MSU missed a ton of FT's and Juwann Morgan got injured for Indiana. I still see them spiraling towards the bottom 4 of the league, even if they get some injured guys back. Something is still not quite right with that roster or chemistry and I think Archie Miller will have to make some tough decisions on how he wants to adjust his coaching style of 4* kids, who are not used to being told their soft or aren't used to be challenged. I think he's trying to push some buttons but this new wave of student athlete doesn't always respond to tough love like 20-30 years ago.
