Eugene is a warrior playing with a injured leg.As to passing its not a strength of Rutgers with far too many unforced turnovers trying to feed the post players and missed shots around the basket.Rutgers plays far better in a up tempo game as compared to a half court game where the 3 point shot game has greater relevance.

Yeah, Magic Johnson level pass, a bounce pass which we need to do more of, and the catch by Montez in stride and his going up in one motion , is much more difficult than Tez made it look. Incredibly athletic. Speaking of passes, Montez had some awesome assists yesterday and he is our best guard at feeding our post players.

Great point on the finish. In real time I got worried he wasn't going to be able to convert running full speed catching and going up for a contested layup

He is a great passer but that was an extremely low percentage pass. More likely to be a turnover than how it worked out.

yes and they got 3 chances for that...two key defensive rebounds in that sequence led to the 3...I thought Illinois did a good job at rebounding in the 2nd half than they did in the first...like I said a rebound here or there and we could have a different outcome

Might be but your post seems so negative when I was celebrating how great a play was made by Eugene and Montez, our guys . That was as good a college basketball play from both the pass as well as the catch and finish perspective as you will see in college basketball this year. Enjoy it as it was done by Rutgers players not the opposition against us.

If you’re in the push situation and a pass requires a lot of courage: don’t throw it.

I would say physically it was exceptionally well executed by both players. But I hope he doesn’t try that kind of pass again. So I don’t really agree it was a great play.

Early in the first half, we seemed to have some trouble corralling defensive rebounds. A couple of those could have been the difference, too.

Geo is not a good passer. He does not throw the entry pass to the post either by bounce pass or direct chest pass as well as our other players. Montez has shown to be an incredibly underrated passer and Caleb is very good as well. We must continue to pound the ball down low and good things will happen.

That was a great pass indeed - one of 5 assists Eugene had in the game. When he is passing well, as he has been lately, RU is so much better on offense.
