Excluding 2020 when there was no Fall schedule (Covid), Rutgers opens their season for the 7th year in a row at Minnesota. 36 holes will be played Sunday with the 18 hole final Monday.

Last year RU led by 3 strokes after 36 holes before stumbling in the final 18, dropping to 8th in a tightly bunched field. Individually Rhett Sellers and Xavier Marcoux were in or tied for 1st throughout the first 2 rounds before finishing T4 and T10.

While no lineup is listed at the moment, it would seem likely vereran regulars Grad Xavier Marcoux (1 career individual title), Sr Rhett Sellers,Grad Luke Wells, and Jr Weston Jones will make up 4 of the 5 players entered. The 5th would come from Utah transfer Jr Martin Leon (Chile), Soph Logan Paczewski, freshmen Andrew Reyes (TX), or Derek Gutierrez (Cranford, NJ).

Based on the '22-'23 Sagarin rankings, Northwestern comes in as the highest ranked team at #30 out of 305 D1 programs. They are followed by #53 Notre Dame, #54 Kansas, and #58 Furman. At #77 Rutgers comes in as the 8th highest ranked in the 14 team field.

Spikemark takes over for long time NCAA official scorer, Golfstat, this season. The site has been down for the past 1-2 weeks while they upgrade their system so there may be problems getting info but who knows?

Former Rutgers player Chris Gotterup on way to PGA tour. He needed a put on the last hole on the Korn Ferry tour tournament yesterday. He is currently 24 place in point rankings , Top 30 get their PGA cards.

He's been knocking on the Top 30 door for the last 2-3 tourneys but couldn't escape that one poor round mostly caused by poor play off the tee. The two weeks off seemed to help. He'd been averaging less than 50% in Driving Accuracy but was over 80% this week and finished 5th with a consistent 69-69-69-68 for 13 Under.

Can’t win or place in tournaments at the college level if 3 of your golfers are regularly greatly over par. One or two you have a chance but 3? How is this even possible? It’s not like these courses are set up with any more difficulty than your average member guest.

It's not like this team hasn't come close a couple times, it's that they're just so inconsistent. The Women's team have had real issues. The situation they found themselves in last season was tough. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances but to be unable to field an entire team the last 2 tourneys? 3 players leave the team in a 6 month period?

I'm guessing they don't get the support other schools get. If you have a moment take a look at the facilities schools like Illinois, OSU, and other B1G schools have. Even so, the Men were ranked in the top 1/4 of all D1 and the top team in the Northeast. The Women were in the top 1/2 of D1.
