CL has been getting a lot of undue criticism on this board for his performance so far this season. It seems that the large Retting contingent is looking for anything and everything to discount CL as the starter. Surely the stats don't tell the whole story, but lets compare how Chris has faired compared with other first year starters in the NCAA.

Chris Laviano (Rutgers) 27/33 (81.8%), 342 yds, 10.36 yds/A, 4 TD, 1INT, 202.8 RAT
Jeremy Johnson (Auburn) 32/53 (60.4), 373 yds, 7.04 yds/A, 3 TD, 5 INT, 119.3 RAT
Malik Zaire (Notre Dame) 26/40 (65%), 428 yds, 10.7 yds/A, 4 TD, 0 INT, 187.9
Jake Coker (Alabama) 30/47 (63.8), 427 yds, 9.09 yds/A, 2 TD, 1 INT, 149.9
Lamar Jackson (Louisville) 26/47 (55.3%), 268 yds, 5.7 yds/A, 1 TD, 3 INT, 97.5
Clayton Thorson (NW) 23/40 (57.5%), 257 yds, 6.43 yds/A, 1 TD, 0 INT, 119.7

Obviously stats do not tell the whole story but we need to give Chris a chance. Currently, at least statistically he fits in with his peers (first yr starters, P5 conference). Let's wait and see how he fairs against a stiff D in PSU before we call for Retting. No doubt CL made errors with the fumble, INT, etc, but so don't a lot of players making their FIRST start. I watched Auburn vs Jacksonville St, the Auburn quarterback was horrible, already has 5 picks on the season. Guess Malzon is a horrible coach lol for letting him learn and work through some struggles in his first couple games (guarantee they have plenty of 4* QBS on the bench).

Support CL, he is our starter, if he is horrible against PSU, then call for retting, but enough of this crap nitpicking everything he does, just b/c you want retting to be the starter
