OK, trying to keep my two young daughters hydrated and entertained, so was not focused on the field, so factor that in.
THe only live scrimmaging was on Goal line plays, so not much to go on with QBs. In drills, I thought they both looked good. Really could not differentiate who was peforming better. Rettig has a strong arm, but Laviano was throwing the rock with good velocity as well. Did not see many poor passes.
Besides those two, I also thought Rescigno and Dare were throwing the ball well and looked pretty smooth. Hopefully we have greatly upgraded the QB position, and can develop more quality depth there.
Was watching James since they did some drills right in front of the bleachers. Thought he ran well, with good burst. He says he is 100% and it looks that way. Goodwin looked good as well.
At Fullback, Sam Bergen looks like a beast. I hope his physique translates to great blocking, he sure looks the part.
Carro, Augodosi, and Patton stood out at WR. THey all made some tough catches on balls over their shoulder on a drill with DB's following them,
Jimmy Hogan looks nothing like when he came in last year at 225. He is a lot stronger and says he is up to 255 and hopes to keep adding weight.
Coolest dude award goes to Genarion Grant. Very friendly and looking great with the Dreads and gold teeth.
My 10 year old daughter said good luck to every player and extended a handshake to every player. They were a little taken aback by a young girl shaking their hands, but everyone smiled said thank you and shook her hand.
A great day and a lot of fun for the kids. Rutgers has players with good character for the most part and it showed. Almost every player was willing to engage with fans and enjoyed signing.
Will try to post a few pics later.
