Foreman Transferring

Eddie Jordan was the laziest college basketball coach known to man. Didn't recruit, didn't coach, what the hell did he do here? I think he thought as long as he didn't throw basketballs at players he was passing with flying colors.

As to players transferring, let em all go, let none of them go. The program can't be held hostage by a bunch of mediocre basketball players. If it takes losing every game next year for Pikiell to get things in order, so be it. We weren't going anywhere anyway.

I hope Rutgers doesn't end up paying all of what is owed Jordan. I am not a lawyer. He didn't just perform poorly, he just flat out didn't try.

This "loyal son" nonsense needs to stop. To me, I am in my mid 40s, Eddie is either #1 or #2 on my bad list. Given we are in the B1G he is probably #1

For those of us who never saw Eddie Jordan play, this is all we know of him. How disappointing.

I am guessing guys like Choppin aren't going to show their faces around here for awhile after seeing this confirmed by a player.

Is anyone really surprised though? You could see by the product put on the court that there were some serious, serious work ethic issues. They were unprepared across the board, in every way.

It will be interesting to see where a guy like Foreman lands. Like a number of other guys on the team, he is going to be in for a rude awakening when he sees what a real coach is going to expect of him.

There is no quick fix to this team at all. The concern cannot be a couple more wins next year. More wins next year are irrelevant. The key is fielding a better product two and three years from now. No one on the current roster is irreplaceable. The more guys leave, the quicker Coach and his staff can bring in guys with the same vision as the staff. Guys who will defend, and rebound, and bust their humps in the weight room and in practice. You would think the guys that are on the roster right now would be showing up to play to show the new staff that they are into it, wouldn't you? Well they aren't. If these guys want to buy in then I'm all for them being here to be part of building this program from scratch. If they don't want to buy in, ALL IN, then get out now. Good riddance.

FIG.....come on. Hate him as a coach, that's cool, but, this in silly. Coaches get their buyout money, always have, always will.

Why can't people just look forward instead of looking back ?

As fans, I know we hang on every word that's reported and overanalyze looking for clues but WTF:

The mini-headline says that there will "probably" be other key departures. In the article, it says it is "possible" that there will be other key departures. Probable and Possible are NOT the same thing. Which is it?

Cousin Eddie  never performed the duties he was paid to do. DJ Foreman has provided ammunition. I mentioned years back about Eddie not returning a HS coach's call......

I would pay it out in weekly installments in the form of a real check so he'd have to get off his lazy arse and come get it and make a trip to the bank to deposit it. Under achieving is one thing. Putting so little effort into it just took the shine off his rep for me.

Good talent, didn't get the coaching he needed in order to improve. Don't blame him for transferring.

Pikiell will need to be active in the graduate transfer market. Yup, it's a band-aid, but we need bodies who can be competitive right away in order to show HS kids the program is at least going somewhere in terms of Ws and Ls.

"When the head coach doesn't do a lot of recruiting ,the kids become attached to assistants." .... OK
... but one would hope that by the end of your 2nd year you would have made more attachments - beyond your recruiting coach.... and that you would understand that changes happen - and that you can grieve for the departure of a friend & mentor - but it may not be a good idea to simply walk away
and
you might try to get to know the new coach ... yeah... that guy with some genuine winning experience... and
who is going to bring in genuine hands-on winning coaching (like - Kevin Hobbs) to help you develop.

well maybe it is for the best - one thing is for sure - somebody else is going to be excited to come here & take his place - because they believe - they buy-in and expect that the new staff will be able to use them & develop them & enable them to play on a winning Rutgers Team.

Welcome to Rutgers Coach Pikiel, I would like to quote something
from Al Jolson, he used to greet each crowd with "you ain't seen
nothing yet! So I would like to greet all new coaches with the same
phrase. Seriously, I hope he believes he knows what he stepped
into and he is ready. God bless you my son. you think he'll seek advice
from this book I read. " I woke up and found myself coaching at Rutgers"
Co- written by Littlepage,Rice,Waters,Hill, Wetzel, Jordan and company.
Any way when the going gets tough, the tough ....well coach you know
how it goes, so good luck. at least you can leave, we are stuck with this
for life.:)

I think most coaches know what they are getting into. BC coach in 2nd year won 0 games in the ACC. People need to be patient.

Choppin should change his profile quote to this. It's how a real coach tackles the facility challenge:

"COACH PIKIELL: I'm so excited about practice facilities, when I saw renditions of the model. I'm thrilled. We're going to pack the RAC. This is going to be a great place to play. I played in the gym and won three championships. It was 1200 seats. Scalping tickets. The roof leaked sometimes. We won three championships at Stony Brook. It's the coaches, the players, the university, the people. We have that combination here and then some. So I'm looking forward to playing basketball right here in this gym. We're going to continue to improve the facilities. That will be great, a bonus. But we're going to take care of our student-athletes and do a great job with them."

100% agree! We have a terrific staff now. We have a HC that will simply not be outworked. And we have facilities on the way. Trust the process - things are about to get much better for RU bball.

I'll add that it is easier to put your stamp on new faces than old. That won't translate to on court success in 2016-17. No band aids and no shortcuts.

The problem is the fan base, as measured by this message board, wants band aids and short cuts. A lot of bargaining going on.

I thought Foreman could be a significant contributor on this team with the right coaching-sorry to see him go. Maybe he saw his PT going down with a healthy Freeman returning and hopefully Thiam coming in.

Thinking about all of this ... and without bashing EJ gratuitously - it simply seems that he was not wired for this role - he may be tremendously passionate about Rutgers - he may feel deeply & treasure his vast past experiences - and sincerely wanted to fix the post-Rice mess - but it seemed that when it came to the true totality of the role - he lacked a comprehensive passion for the full extended view of the job.... and far too many aspects were approached & performed in a passive manner.

So - if a quasi passive atmosphere has been in place - and it may have crept into certain team member mind-set - - that then make it seem like Pikiell will probably need to thoroughly review the entire roster and assess who is able to be infused with a full passion for being a scholar athlete and doing everything - every single thing that it takes to get on & stay on the court & succeed .... and who is just unable to get it together to do anything more than go through the motions.... just passin through ...
- guys who are 'just passin through' may have helped to flesh out EJ's teams
- but they really will be of little value when it come to taking this team to where Pikiell has been brought in to take it .

Foreman Shmoreman. This hurts because he is a big body and our frontcourt is going to be horrible (and thin). Scary to think that he's better than Doorson and light years ahead of Diallo. Still, "significant contributor" is relative. He's not very good, but is a contributor on the team because we are so bad. It's slim pickins right now but it wouldn't take that much to replace him.

I can. Looks like he didn't recruit, wanted nothing to do with rebounding and defense, didn't attend events that he should have, paid no attention to details on the court, and blamed circumstances and players for his failures...that's lazy.
He was as much as a no-show coach as possible without being blatantly obviously about it.

I like Foreman as a guy on a good team that can spell a starter for 10-12 minutes per game. Jordan played him too many minutes at a time.

I wonder how many people ITT thread brushing off the transfers as no big deal will be blasting Pikell next February...

Can we not bash the kid here. It's very low and classless. Bash Jordan all you want but show some class.

If they don't collect a check, there's no reason to bash them.

Or at least put some effort in. If you're going to talk about a player you don't like, at least state what he can improve or should have improved while at the school. Not the players faults there was zero development over the past couple of years.

Everyone who has been recruited here is limited in some way, we haven't been getting top 30 kids. It's on the staff to develop kids that are willing to put the work in.
