Quarterback Kevin Olsen was dismissed from the Towson football program without ever throwing a pass.

Coach Rob Ambrose confirmed Tuesday evening that the former University of Miami quarterback, who joined the Tigers in January, was dismissed for a violation of team rules before spring practice began in March.y.html

I am extremely distraught that things didnt work out for Kevin Olsen or Tanner McEvoy.

Yeah great idea. Offer a kid who was suspended three times before getting kicked out of Miami ...MIAMI. [/I]Then gets thrown out of Towson before spring practices even start. And you think he fits the Rutgers mold? Not even the SEC will take a chance on him at this point.

Rider get off the ledge he only asked if we initially offered him before he committed to Miami

Feel bad for the kid - hope he gets his life in order. No matter what the situation I find it hard to trash a kid (and he is a kid) whose life seems to be unraveling.

Olsen getting booted out of Miami is right up there with Stephen Adler getting kicked out of Guns N' Roses and the Bush twins being kicked out of Venezuela. Even the N@zis didn't get kicked out of Venezuela.

Maybe lands in the SEC. His credentials are right.
Most likely Kean or Willy Pee.

I feel bad for kids from rough neighborhoods, impoverished background or have family problems that for a variety of reasons have to leave the program. Kids that you know this is their big chance for success, whether its football or not.

Kids that are spoiled and entitled and, in this case, have been told by everyone around them what not to do? I'm not going to trash this kid, but I'm certainly not going to feel bad for him. The scholarship money he wasted could have gone to someone else who actually deserved it.

Pretty sure he meant "Did we offer when he was in HS?", not "will we offer now?"

To be fair, there was a segment here calling for Flood to contact him when he left Miami.

To be fair, there's a segment here who would love for us to descend to the depths of Auburn, Miami, North Carolina, SMU and Penn State in order to win football games.

Sad isn't it?

I didn't think I would have to explain that I meant when he was coming out of high school and we were offering schollies to kids coming out of high school.
How many here thought that I meant "Did we offer yesterday ?"
And how many here think RU has ever given any indication that it would be the type of program to give a kid like this a fifth chance ?
Frankly, I didn't think he was all that when I saw him play in high school.
Wish we got his older brother though.

KEVIN OLSEN WOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR RUTGERS if our motto stood for: F.orget A.bout M.e I L.ove Y.uengling

me not so much...everything I heard out of Wayne on him was negative..and multiple instances...he's
finally being held somewhat accountable for behavior...that's the crux of this issue....got away with
crap for years so never learned how to behave...

his brother is rich...I guess he can work for him

I still don't get why Towson has not changed their name to Maryland State. I know there are other state schools in MD,but other schools in other states have done it --Southwest Missouri to Missouri State, Southwest Louisiana to Louisiana-Lafayette and Northeast Louisiana to Louisiana-Monroe.

Not surprising. Easy to get away with anything in high school when your dad is the coach and AD.

On a side note, his mother was one of the nicest teachers I ever had.

Was he among a group of Wayne kids involved in a fight (non-football) a few years ago?

Im pretty sure alcoholics have a high enough tolerance that yuengling is like drinking water...

So many haters in this thread. What if he was your son or a close relative ?

We are not to be so high and mighty as all below offer this bad apple. He just Never grew up or he has a addition problem that his family ignored either way he was a 4 star that did not fit in the Rutgers mold.
Flood can't recruit maybe that is why he let off the gas on him.... well maybe he is smarter than all the negatoids on this site

Is this the brother of the guy who couldn't even attend a Rutgers practice WHEN IT WAS MOVED TO HIS HS SO HE COULD ATTEND?

It makes me sad that the curse I put on that kid and everyone he ever knew has manifested itself in this dingus.

But not really.

Couldn't they get him into remedial math?

ch414 - that fight was football related, it was 9 wayne hills football players that beat up wayne valley kids...they got suspended for a playoff game by the school board even tho the coach olsen was gonna let them play

Dont think kevin was involved in that but he did have an accident his senior year of hs where it was believed he was drunk but didnt get any charges for that cus of who he is

Something about the documentary they did on the family causes me to not be surprised at this... I am sorry for the family and the community and especially him..

My mistake KBee. I thought you meant did we offer now[/I], because I assumed that most already knew that he was a highly publicized NJ QB and Rutgers target coming out of high school (I agree, I never thought he was that special of a player either).

You would[/I], however be surprised that there are posters who would actually have given our staff a hard time for not offering him at this time, especially if he somehow goes somewhere else and has success on the field.

Why haven't they worked out for McEvoy? That can't be known until Wisconsin completes their season on 01/01/16.

Tanner McEvoy will probably be a starter in the Big Ten on a team favored to win its division next season.
