The reality is they don't think we 'looked the part", CODE: SOFT. Not enough horses to compete after Mag went down. It's an insult.

That said they aren't completely wrong either...we gave it away. WIN the games you are suppose win. No more bad loses.

BUT....Rutgers AS A PROGRAM now has to EARN the respect, stop playing "not to lose," I see it in other teams, I don't yet see it in Rutgers...yet.

We have better talent coming. Get some offensive consistency. Keep scraping on defense

Beat the piss out of teams you should beat...killer instinct.

It has to be instilled from the top. Maybe PIKE has to change, too! Get more aggresive perhaps.

The next chapter indeed....

As they say in boxing. You can't leave it up to the judges. You need to knock the MFs out and leave no doubt.
Indeed...that's what we are missing. Hate to bring it up, but look at PSU and Funk and all the others...confident shooters...not afraid...Pikett..driving, pulling it back...fade away all night...we could learn a thing or 3...

Bad take . This team and program have repeatedly been recognized as one of the scrappiest and toughest in the nation.

Our flaws down the stretch almost solely from a complete inability to score. Maybe with one less guy rotating in, it changed the dynamic and guys got tired . It was really odd how badly something like FT % dropped those last 10 games. If we hit even a respectable amount of FTs we win the game at Minn and at home vs Michigan.

Don’t disagree but that is going to have to take a talent overhaul. Currently constructed we are a slow down, late shot clock, defensive oriented team. When healthy we only start one shooter, CAM. Paul, Caleb(favorite player of All time), and Mag are not shooters and in reality are poor 3 point shooters.

Talent and shooting hopefully coming and we will hopefully adjust accordingly. The team identity will evolve over the next few years. Looking forward to the ride.

You not lying. Pike needs to create a bully mindset with his program. Put your foot on the neck of the weak. Don't be afraid to recruit over some guys. Bc with the right offer, some would move on from us

Doubt that any B10 coaches thought RU was soft. And Pike doesn't have to change. The one area you pointed to was offense and that's all it was. RU is not a good offensive team. The only guy who could generate his own shot is Derek. And the only pure shooters on the team are him and Cam. BB is a simple game: score more than the other guys, and we couldn't put the ball in the basket enough to beat Temple or SHU or the other teams we were favored over. That being said, we should have been selected to the tourney.

There’s a difference between MENTALLY soft and fragile like we are and PHYSICALLY soft, which we are not. Mentally MUCH more important and affects things like free throws, turnovers, and giving games away AT THE END… that’s soft mentality…

"The only guy who could generate his own shot is Derek."

Paul can create his own shot the same way Pikett does. Problem is, for some reason he stopped doing it, and instead is always looking to pass.

IF it is true that the team is mentally soft, that's not something you just "decide" to fix.

I don't really see it, by the way. "Giving away games AT THE END", sure, we did that at Minnesota. We also had a great comeback at Penn State when it looked like we were dead in the water, won at Northwestern and at Purdue in the last possessions.

We beat them twice. Great example!!

We had the bigget chip those days..

Rutgers has nothing to gain in the NIT except maybe a trip to Vegas for the players. I think they lose first or second game not because they are not an NCAA Tournament team but because of the disappointment on not making it.

Don’t kid yourself. If you think we are better than them you don’t know crap. We barely pulled out that game then look what happened after! They went in a run. Mentally tough.

If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound. In this case no.. no one will even remember RU losing in the first round of the NIT
