Game Thread : #14 RU WBB @ PSU, 2pm, story and info:

Mack has had a really nice game at the end here and making her FT's.

RU WINS! 69-61. Way to go ladies. Overcame a mini PSU run and once again some head-scratching calls by the $hitty officials, which IMO kept PSU in this game, or else we win this game by double digits. We have now swept the Lady Lions and we are still alone in first place. Very nice.

FYI: PSU had 28 FT's to our 11. PSU scored 22 points from the charity stripe.

RU leaves with a win, 69-61. A very, very tough game. RU improves to 8-1 in Conference. whew ! that was tough. Carey the offensive star w 19 points to go along with her 7 rebounds. Wilson had 14. Giurantes had a strangely bad offensive game w only 4 points. Cryor had 8 assists to go with 9 points. She's a STAR ! Foul shooting and few 3s kept PSU in the game .

On to the next game..

Guirantes was amazingly absent, but it's nice to see a deep enough bench to pick up the slack.

good win, started slow but did the job needed to come out ahead. [cheers]
As for Guirantes, I didn't see the game but could tell her O was off by posts in this thread.
For those who seen game, how was her D.

Her D was pretty good, had about 7 rebounds. Oddly she even missed an open layup w about 3 min to go, after missing an easy , open 4 footer. She was like 2-10 today. But her teammates picked her up. Carey has really come on , and is now having a break out season.

Thanks.
My opinion:
Sometimes a players D keeps her in game when O is flat and helps team that way.
Rest of team covering for her lack of O is a good sigh this team can overcome a major player not having a good game offensively as long as that player's D isn't suffering as well.

This is a deep team.

Zippy needs more minutes. She is very talented. We will need her if we want to make a run.

She is improving quickly now that she is getting minutes. Not sure Zippy and Cryor can play together at same time, since they are both true Point Guards. Since Cryor is a Redshirt Jr, she will only have 1 more year after this, so Zippy will be more than ready to take over when Cryor leaves in a year and a half.
Plus with Cryor being so aggressive on D, and plays so darn hard, she sometimes gets n foul trouble early , and wears herself out, but they both will get plenty of time. It's really good to have that depth, especially if one should get banged up. The tough one to replace is going to be Carey, wow, has she been so important this year. And Jenkins and Harris are also seniors. That's a lot of quality minutes underneath the basket we lose. Maori is going to get thrown right into the fire.Giles Singleton and Wallace will also be getting a lot more minutes.

When friends asked me before the season, “where is the scoring going to come from with Tyler gone?” I answered “from everyone”. Without one go-to shooter, we now have a team full of them. You just don’t know who is going to step up on any given night.
