This just in: Rutgers at Seton Hall Dec. 15 is a general-public sellout (student tix will be allocated later but they'll sell out too).
So 10,500 expected at the Rock. Upper deck will remain closed.
Third straight sellout for this rivalry. College hoops alive & well in NJ.

I wonder how many more would sell if half the upper deck was open.

yes, but it seems that usually is not an option...you would think that they would consider it since the game is still a little ways off, and more tickets could be sold.

So freaking annoying AGAIN!!! How can they not open the upper deck. We went through this two years ago .

What if they had demand for another 5 or 6k requests or more

There isn't

*edit, meant to say I doubt there is interest for 5k more tickets, that's highly exaggerated.

But, would SHU be able to sell another 500-700 tickets? Possibly , but it's not enough to open the upper levels.

As I said there are still many tickets available on TicketExchange.
SHU Athletics knows that.

Now, if both RU and SHU pull off upset wins this weekend that would certainly heighten demand.
Let's hope that occurs!

They know SHU has maxed out their interest and related ticket sales. If they open the upper deck it will be all RU.

thats true but money talks...its alot of money that they could be leaving on the table..what if RU say beats MSU...there will be alot of demand and hype for that game and like pressure from the NJ hoops writers to make them open it up

Only Seton Hall would sell 10,500 tickets in an arena that seats 18,711 & call it a sell out!!!
10,500 is more than we seat....too open up that deck requires more employees, more police and more food & drink

They are not a big school so fan base isnt crazy big. For their rivalry with RU every year the full arena should be available but at the same time they will lose home court advantage. So i can see why they dont do so...why should RU have 1-1/2 home games

I remember the days back at CAA RU fans would dominate the upper deck yelling down at the Shoe fans "we can't hear you" during their chants.

This is going to be great. Thank goodness for this rivalry.

Bingo. Between the added expense in opening up the upper deck and the fact that any additional seats sold would likely hurt SH’s home court advantage as those ticket purchases would be RU fans, it doesn’t make a ton of sense on their end to open it up.

Its all about $$$$. Has nothing to do with "losing home court advantage". As already stated, opening upper deck means more employees etc. if the lower arena had "sold out" earlier then SH probably would open the upper deck just like they did for The Nova game. SH has had better attendance at their home games than RU has had for years.

That’s not it as we did that for Nova. It has to sell out well in advance to show the demand. Not going to open to accommodate 300 more fans.

This precisely. There is still plenty of tickets on various exchanges. If this was sold out 2-3 weeks before theyd open. I prefer it to be packed downlow and not look silly with 300+ up top.
