This would give us uniform combos we could all be proud of. Keep the current whites and blacks. Red tops, white pants like what we wore for the Louisvile game. Nike could sell more jerseys which would make them more happy. Win-Win all around.

I agree with this, and I know some people are going to say "but the players love the black uniforms." The players always say they love the uniforms, and I doubt they would care that much if they did away with them. To me, all the pictures and videos from our first Big Ten win just don't look like Rutgers.

If we go back to the old uniforms, we would actually look like a real B1G team. Maybe that would help with recruiting.
exactly. The 2006 unis are similar PSUs classic, clean look. The unis are part of our football brand. When i think of a rutgers football player, he's wearing a 2006 uniform.

Completely disagree. Black should continue to be part of our color pallet. There are three other teams in the B1G alone that have red and white(ish) as their primary colors, and even more across the rest of college football. Far fewer use red, black, and white.
Keep the black uniforms.
Then change the nickname of the school. It looks absolutely ridiculous to be called the SCARLET Knights and wear a black uniform.
Change the fight song since it's stupid for 55,000 fans to yell upstream red team when there isn't a red team on the field.
Seriously the whole black uniform thing in sports has been played out. Time to get back to traditional uniforms.
while I like our current helmets and I am OK with the unis (more modern), if we were to change, let's not go back to 2006--those look a bit dated...and tired.

Yes, Rutgers isn't on the bottom of the list, as Al said. Indiana and Purdue are lower, so not sure how Rutgers is at the bottom..but whatever.
Only 2 of the 8 writers have us dead last. One even has us in the top half...just goes to show our uniforms are either "love them" or "hate them"..as most uniforms are.
The players love them, who cares what writers think, anyway.
So if your kid came home with a 14 on a math test your response would be 'you didn't get a 0, it could be worse'?
I wouldn't say he finished "at the bottom of his class"..if two more kids got worse grades. That's all I'm saying. Is it really hard to understand? Again, it doesn't even matter, anyway.
Looks like it...but the ugly helmet is why they're at the bottom. The consensus was nothing wrong with their jerseys.
Change is a major part of life. It time for a change! You folks are the ones that can't adjust. I'm not saying bring back the 2006 unis but the same color jersey and pants for every game is so overdone.
A slightly updated version of the 2006 home uniforms would work. I think most fans would agree that the current away white uniform with white helmets is really cool and the black uniform with the battle scarred helmets is great for a once a year blackout game. The scarlet helmets would even go well with the away uniform once in a while. If you keep the overall look simple, there are many options. The home uniform should go back to what has become the iconic Rutgers look with the red helmet with the block R, scarlet tops and white pants. The stadium has a basic scarlet color scheme and the fans wear scarlet clothing with the Rutgers font but the team comes out of the tunnel with a Midieval Times look that doesn't match. I have to admit It was a little embarrassing to have national television audiences seeing the iconic uniforms of Michigan and PSU in our stadium playing against the Any Given Sunday uniforms our guys were in.
Every other sport at RU has uniforms that look a certain way and the football team looks completely different. At home, RU football should stick more with the basic overall RU athletics concept, especially since they are by far the most visible program.
Anyone that thinks battle scars on RU unis is cool most likely never played the game. You EARN you battle scars on the field. Especially on your helmet.

Actually one has RU at #6 , the next highest is 9.
Most have RU in the bottom half, so the love is lukewarm, but the hate shows more.

I like the 2006 unis far better, but what the recruits like most should be what counts in any decision on what RU wears..
When I watched us on TV last year it wasn't my Rutgers. I was told I was watching Rutgers, but I didn't reconigize them. I felt very little attachment to the team playing.
It could have been any school getting their heads kicked in against OSU, and the rest of the big boy B1G teams.
Guys in my office would burn a city down if OSU or Michigan changed their uniforms. I wish we had 10% of their tradition. Instead have the Power Ranger Halloween costumes.

I'm not a angry old fart but I'll give you some facts. "Battle scars" is a phrase that has been around forever and continues to be about the marks on your helmet as the year goes on to this day. So age has nothing to do with it. RU players have heard trash talk about "earning it" from their opponents. Being on the sideline I have heard it personally so I don't need a source and plenty of other Letterwinners have heard it themselves. Especially against Cincinnati during that debacle.
It is a dumb concept that Nike came up with that they feel to defend to the death along with the numbers on the salmon unis.
Again you folks seem to be defending an outdated concept. Isn't it time for something new??
Instate recruiting has been down since we switched unis so it's not like kids are loving it.
I challenge anyone to say they love our home red unis, not helmets which are cool IMO...I'm talking red home pants and shirts.

As much as I like the older uniforms, you're dealing with Nike. They were able to have the USWNT dress in their white unis with black numbers/trim and neon yellow socks. If one of our national teams is playing without the red, white and blue on their uniforms because of Nike $$$$, then what do you expect is to be the case with Rutgers uniforms. Heaven (not Heaven U) only know what they'll come up with for our next style in a few years. We can like it, love it, or hate it, but they're here to stay. If only they could make the names/numbers easier to read on the home unis. I can't read 'em and I sit in row 6.
We should rip out the stadium expansion, while we're at it and bring back the scoreboard on the grass hill. And the team just hasn't been the same since Lord Espartero IV left, he needs to be brought back. Lets tear down the garrison flag, too.
