Exaggerate much?We should rip out the stadium expansion, while we're at it and bring back the scoreboard on the grass hill. And the team just hasn't been the same since Lord Espartero IV left, he needs to be brought back. Lets tear down the garrison flag, too.
Just put a protective bubble around 2006 and don't let anything change, ever. Freeze it in time for good.
No we do not on the shoulder pads. The scars lighten the color. And can we change the numbers please??We should not go back to the 2006 red uniforms, because they are the wrong color. We are not the Red Knights. We are the Scarlet (three parts red, one part orange) Knights. We should have scarlet uniforms, as we now do.
The 2006 uniforms aren't anything new. They sucked in 2006 and would suck and also be outdated now.I'm not a angry old fart but I'll give you some facts. "Battle scars" is a phrase that has been around forever and continues to be about the marks on your helmet as the year goes on to this day. So age has nothing to do with it. RU players have heard trash talk about "earning it" from their opponents. Being on the sideline I have heard it personally so I don't need a source and plenty of other Letterwinners have heard it themselves. Especially against Cincinnati during that debacle.
It is a dumb concept that Nike came up with that they feel to defend to the death along with the numbers on the salmon unis.
Again you folks seem to be defending an outdated concept. Isn't it time for something new??

Ok, pass on 2006 unis, how about fixing the ones we have, or do you really like them just as they are?06 uniforms were generic and lame. Pass.
Red, black, and white is not that uncommon of a color scheme, and are the other three Big Ten teams considering changing their colors to differentiate themselves? No, so why should we? Hey if we want to be different, why not take the field in glow-in-the dark, plaid, and urban camo uniforms? (Hopefully nobody from Nike reads this post and gets any ideas)Completely disagree. Black should continue to be part of our color pallet. There are three other teams in the B1G alone that have red and white(ish) as their primary colors, and even more across the rest of college football. Far fewer use red, black, and white.
Keep the black uniforms.
What player has ever said they don't like their uniforms? Even if they hate them, they obviously aren't going to admit it publicly. In my opinion, the uniforms that players truly take pride in are the ones that have remained constant for many years because they become more of a flag for the school than just some new trendy clothes to be worn for a couple years before ditching them for a new set of trendy clothes. I think it means something when a player wears the same uniform that they remember seeing the team wear before they reached that level. Recruits don't pick their school based on the uniforms anyway, these aren't five-year old kids deciding on a favorite team.Yes, Rutgers isn't on the bottom of the list, as Al said. Indiana and Purdue are lower, so not sure how Rutgers is at the bottom..but whatever.
Only 2 of the 8 writers have us dead last. One even has us in the top half...just goes to show our uniforms are either "love them" or "hate them"..as most uniforms are.
The players love them, who cares what writers think, anyway.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'd actually prefer to keep our current uniforms than adopt this idea. The uniforms are the school's identity in the sport. There shouldn't be any colors on them other than the school's colors.2005 was better... that should be R look.
That said, I think all the red in the Big Ten is really an issue. I think we should add blue and shift to a colonial look... revolutionary War.. stars and stripes.. work the 1766 in there somewhere. We'd be the only red white and blue team in the big ten.
While I do like the 2006 uniforms better than the current uniforms, at this point I would just be happy if Nike can make the "Scarlet" more red looking like Ohio State. Does anyone know if Flood or anyone else has gotten back to Nike on this and is there any chance that Nike will correct this problem? I really hate those "pink" "salmon" uniforms.
First, about the red white and blue thing... "Big Blue" added red. Why can't we add blue?
As others have pointed out, the "salmon" could be a problem that cannot be fixed because it could largely be due to the silver battle scars on the shoulders. The combination of that red and the silver together could be causing us to see it as salmon on the shoulders.. and once we see that, the whole thing becomes salmon colored.
But I also think it is the shade chosen and the material used as well. I think they can account for all of this as well as the type of lights used in stadiums and pick a different shade of red that will make is see it as more scarlet even with all the factors involved. That shade would probably look, by itself, more orange than red, but once it is on the field it would look look like scarlet to us all.
They really should make half a dozen different all-red unis in their Nike battle scar style and have players wear them and stick them on R field, 1 yards apart and have people view them from the stands and via TV and during all lighting possibilities.. in direct sun, shade and at night with the lights. Our lights suck too.. need to be brighter and, hopefully, have the noisey lights on the east side fixed too.
The shade of R in the middle of the field and the endzones needs similar treatment. The red paint used in the student section endzone tunnel walls is perfect. Put whoever chose that in charge of it all.
Scarlet is the one and only official school color. The rest are approved secondary uniform colorsBlack helmet.
It's not "being trendy" if it's listed as an official school color.
I disagree Scarlet, I think it's far more a function of fans not liking a pinkish tone to the uniform, coupled with illegible names and numbers...you don't?Probably correlation between people who want the 06 unis back and those who haven't tried and/or hate Uber in the other thread.
Nice try but the lighting in the photo doesn't highlight the battle scars crap which makes the colors appear pink or salmon. Here is the Official Rutgers Red:

I think some people don't actually know what or school color is, or like it. Maybe they want to root for Wisconsin Badger red instead. Here is the Official Rutgers Red:

I'm still waiting for just ONE, home uniform defender to say: I really love our home uniforms, they're great! Scars, illegible numbers and names, everything about them is great.I don't know what is wrong with this board. I keep seeing the word salmon.
That patch is salmon. If you see that on our uniforms go get your eyes checked.

Because we aren't talking about a professional team here whose only purpose is to play football. A college's football team should only wear the school's colors. I doubt Rutgers University is interested in changing its colors just because a few other schools in the Big Ten already have red.First, about the red white and blue thing... "Big Blue" added red. Why can't we add blue?

When will you guys say that ?
I agree with two but not the one on the left. I have been saying since the new uniforms were unveiled that the all white with the chrome helmets are the best away uni's in CFB.See, I don't have any issue with the color, the numbers, the names, the helmets, the scars, etc. I like all of that.
I just not really a fan of the monochromatic look - didn't like it with our old uniforms, either. Though, the new uniforms monochromatic white and black looks better than the old, but the red needs to be broken up.
I'd prefer something more along the lines of this:

The color wouldn't be so bad if the design elements weren't so disjointed. Stripes of varying widths and concepts ("bloodline" on pants, collar that looks like a toilet bowl ring, traditional/simple sleeve stripes, "sword" helmet, etc.) with colors that don't match. And so many different fonts (block R, Rutgers lettering, number font). And THEN add "battle scars".... oofah
It's really a Frankenstein creation.
I don't know that many folks would even be griping about the color if we simply went back to our 2008 template.

Not on this board!win a couple of national championships and our current unis will be voted the best in the country.
