Go Back to the 2006 Home Uniforms

Has a recruit ever said they didn't like the uniform? Ever? At any school? The all white uniforms look really clean. But the salmon is terrible.
We should not go back to the 2006 red uniforms, because they are the wrong color. We are not the Red Knights. We are the Scarlet (three parts red, one part orange) Knights. We should have scarlet uniforms, as we now do.
No we do not on the shoulder pads. The scars lighten the color. And can we change the numbers please??
The 2006 uniforms aren't anything new. They sucked in 2006 and would suck and also be outdated now.

2005 was better... that should be R look.
That said, I think all the red in the Big Ten is really an issue. I think we should add blue and shift to a colonial look... revolutionary War.. stars and stripes.. work the 1766 in there somewhere. We'd be the only red white and blue team in the big ten.
As for the mismatch of name and colors.. knights vs colonial era... we already have the canon.. so we already have that "problem". And you have examples like Alabama.. Crimson Tide using an elephant.. or even Bear Bryant's hounds-tooth hat. Tradition is what you make it.
Of course the big question is.. just how much of our look is up to us? What does Nike own in all of this?
Consider that we are a "Pepsi" school after we were a "Coke" school.. and now we cannot have soda machines with Coke products on campus. We surrender choice for some money.. which, presumably, those companies make back what they give us and more. So, why are we surrendering "choice"?

Red, black, and white is not that uncommon of a color scheme, and are the other three Big Ten teams considering changing their colors to differentiate themselves? No, so why should we? Hey if we want to be different, why not take the field in glow-in-the dark, plaid, and urban camo uniforms? (Hopefully nobody from Nike reads this post and gets any ideas)
What player has ever said they don't like their uniforms? Even if they hate them, they obviously aren't going to admit it publicly. In my opinion, the uniforms that players truly take pride in are the ones that have remained constant for many years because they become more of a flag for the school than just some new trendy clothes to be worn for a couple years before ditching them for a new set of trendy clothes. I think it means something when a player wears the same uniform that they remember seeing the team wear before they reached that level. Recruits don't pick their school based on the uniforms anyway, these aren't five-year old kids deciding on a favorite team.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'd actually prefer to keep our current uniforms than adopt this idea. The uniforms are the school's identity in the sport. There shouldn't be any colors on them other than the school's colors.
While I do like the 2006 uniforms better than the current uniforms, at this point I would just be happy if Nike can make the "Scarlet" more red looking like Ohio State. Does anyone know if Flood or anyone else has gotten back to Nike on this and is there any chance that Nike will correct this problem? I really hate those "pink" "salmon" uniforms.

As others have pointed out, the "salmon" could be a problem that cannot be fixed because it could largely be due to the silver battle scars on the shoulders. The combination of that red and the silver together could be causing us to see it as salmon on the shoulders.. and once we see that, the whole thing becomes salmon colored.
But I also think it is the shade chosen and the material used as well. I think they can account for all of this as well as the type of lights used in stadiums and pick a different shade of red that will make is see it as more scarlet even with all the factors involved. That shade would probably look, by itself, more orange than red, but once it is on the field it would look look like scarlet to us all.
They really should make half a dozen different all-red unis in their Nike battle scar style and have players wear them and stick them on R field, 1 yards apart and have people view them from the stands and via TV and during all lighting possibilities.. in direct sun, shade and at night with the lights. Our lights suck too.. need to be brighter and, hopefully, have the noisey lights on the east side fixed too.
The shade of R in the middle of the field and the endzones needs similar treatment. The red paint used in the student section endzone tunnel walls is perfect. Put whoever chose that in charge of it all.

Scarlet is the one and only official school color. The rest are approved secondary uniform colors
I disagree Scarlet, I think it's far more a function of fans not liking a pinkish tone to the uniform, coupled with illegible names and numbers...you don't?

Nice try but the lighting in the photo doesn't highlight the battle scars crap which makes the colors appear pink or salmon.Here is the Official Rutgers Red:

The color wouldn't be so bad if the design elements weren't so disjointed. Stripes of varying widths and concepts ("bloodline" on pants, collar that looks like a toilet bowl ring, traditional/simple sleeve stripes, "sword" helmet, etc.) with colors that don't match. And so many different fonts (block R, Rutgers lettering, number font). And THEN add "battle scars".... oofah

If it wasn't for the battle scars I would love the red jerseys. I think the scars are a bit cheesy and do make the shoulders come off too light. I actually have one of the jerseys in my closet and wear it on game days. So you can mark me as someone who likes the red jerseys but doesn't love them because of the scars. I'm a 25 yr old male if that helps lol
If we're going to wear Nike space suits, I would go with the Jaguar template (obviously teal = red and gold = silver):
We can even keep our number font (which is one thing I actually think is pretty cool).
And while the Jag's helmet looks hideous with black transitioning to gold, I think it might look good with black transitioning to the battle-scar silver that we currently use:

Because we aren't talking about a professional team here whose only purpose is to play football. A college's football team should only wear the school's colors. I just not really a fan of the monochromatic look - didn't like it with our old uniforms, either. Though, the new uniforms monochromatic white and black looks better than the old, but the red needs to be broken up.
I'd prefer something more along the lines of this:

I'd be fine with that, too, to be honest. I like the all-black and all-white versions. The all-scarlet version would look better with white pants, though, imo - and if there was a red/white version, it would make sense to have a white/red version.
Just want to point out that the Block R is included in that Rutgers lettering, they're all part of the same font/typeface.

I would agree with other posters. the all black and all white are perfect as is. If we did change to a non-monochromatic red jersey-white pants, (which I would probably highly support, and have in fact suggested to quite a few people) I think you'd have to seriously look into changing/eliminating some of the color choices. Imagine, if you will, that red jersey with white numbering, and white stripes rather than black. With a little finagling, that could end up being pretty darn cool.
win a couple of national championships and our current unis will be voted the best in the country.
