BB Recruiting Grad transfer Akwasi Yeboah commits to Rutgers

Yeboah is slightly better imo. Different players though. Yeboah can legit BANG down low with big men on the defensive block. Yeboah just brings a lot more varsatility
Really interested to see Yeboah and Gene on the court at the same time. Will thier versatility kind of cancel each other's attributes; or will they be unstoppable as a dynamic duo? Intriguing.

I was hoping for our first winning season in more than 12 years... now I'm thinking about being a legitimate contender for a postseason tournament. Keep it up Pike!

Based off of what information? He's been hurt

It would need to be based on what you saw two years ago. He reclassified to come here which may not have been to his immediate advantage but we had a glaring need. I am thinking like many other foreign players he did not play a lot of basketball before prepping on Long Island. While he was raw, IMO he showed flashes of being athletic for a big man and the ability to hit a shot while facing the basket. Bigs notoriously take more time to develop and he will only be a red shirt sophomore. His main problem was picking up quick fouls which limited his minutes. I think that is something that can be taught to avoid.

While Myles has clearly passed him, we did not see Myles as a true freshman but the transformation behind the curtain is reported to have been significant. I don't think we can expect the same from Duke but I also don't think he was hurt that badly that it was a lost year development wise. I don't think it is a stretch to believe he can be productive playing 10-15 minutes a game. The biggest issue I see is who is developing him right now. Wasn't Jay Young our big guy coach?

Agree with the doucore sentiment. Kid definitely showed athleticism and good form on his shot. He is?/was incredibly raw. I wonder how limited his practice was over the years. Clearly believes he will get playing time and a meaningful role if he did not transfer.

I think we could use a grad C or a redshirt c/pf to prep for next year however.

Like how the team is currently built. Yeboah will be HUGE + another year under our young guns belts. Believe we make the NIT

Don’t sleep on true veteran bigs like Eugene and possibly Akwasi to push and develop a young guy like Douc. Sometimes the best coaching comes from senior leaders.

Duke is plenty skilled to play the role we need. 10 minutes backing up Myles. He is athletic and has a nice stroke. I am assuming he is putting in the work. If he is he will develop and be able to play a backup role which is all we need.

Duke just needs to limit his fouls. If he corrects that or reduces that we will see a meaningful player.

I looked back at the box score of the game that Stony Brook beat us and Yeboah had 21 pts in only 23 minutes. Pretty damn impressive. Interestingly, he is listed as a guard in the box score - not that it really matters.

I honestly don’t remember him, since I was too busy being pissed off that we were losing to Stony Brook...lol.

Just watched the highlights. This dude has myriad skills and high hoops IQ. Fantastic pickup. He's also quicker, with better handle, than I expected. He can play 3 or 4, and share the court with any combo of Myles, Shaq, Duke, Eugene.

Think about a lineup of Mulcahy, McConnell, Harper, Yeboah, Eugene. All 6'5"-6'7", with length, athleticism, and willingness to pass the ball and play D.

Sounds like we get 40 on average from Geo, Gene, and Yeboah?
It can be any combination of players any night. We have the following players who can put up 15 any night.

Geo
Eugene
Mathis
Young
Harper
Caleb
Yeboah

We never had this before. So many solid scorers but no dominant scorer. Not sure what will happen as a result of that

I would imagine the lineup will change nightly based on who is shooting well. It will also create issues scouting for the opponent because there is not a guy to necessarily to key on, but there are a bunch of capable players. Deep teams tend to be able to withstand the power house teams that normally rack up fouls on opponents.

While I hope it happens, I'm not ready to put Young in that category yet. In 63 career games he has crossed the 15-point milestone just once.

Kyk do you want to hear what fig has to say

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
