Great Article on Senior Anthony Cioffi .

good kid, too bad he couldn't redshirt and was forced to play as a skinny freshman out of need. Doesn't help that our secondary was a total reset every other year for him. Wish him luck after Rutgers

this is a positive quote

“Through this coaching change, a lot of guys are wishing they’d be back for another two, three years because these guys know what they’re talking about. They’ve been around football a lot, they’ve been around winning programs. It’s a culture that is going to grow here.”

He must not read the free board on Scarlet Nation. . . . . .

Too many jabroni on these boards talk crap about him knowing full well he was hurt all year just so they could feel better about themselves as they down another bag of cheese doodles.

But in all seriousness, talk you Cioffi and all of the seniors! You will always be family forever.

That's a GREAT quote right there! I'll be the first to admit, I've been rough on Cioffi, but that's not his fault in any way. The kids definitely gives it 150% and has been doing so for his entire time OTB. Thank you, Anthony, and congratulations on a solid career!

and Cioffi put on alot of muscle weight to play strong saftey ..but still ran down Peppers from 35 yards out in Michigan game, caught him from behind. .

Absolutely. I remember this play his freshman year, against that running back from UCF. I remember his reaction was, "it's just football."

Cioffi kept grinding, putting on muscle and getting better. Going to miss the ball hawk.
Congratulations on a great career.
And that running back who looked fantastic, apparently got injured and eventually kicked off the team. Meanwhile, Anthony played to the end and to the whistle.

And don't forget.. to get "trucked over", as he did that once or twice.. you have to actually get right in front of the guy with the ball.. and he did so when so many smaller DBs aim to try to drag them down from the side or back.

May have missed a couple of tackles here and there but that's because he was so fast he shouldn't have been that near to the ball carrier in the first place, and then the lunge...

If you go back to the early part of his career, he was the bright spot on a defensive backfield that was quickly losing its luster (as all of the previous stars departed for the NFL). So, when he nabbed an INT or recovered a fumble - as he did with L'ville - it stood out in relief. Just the same, when he couldn't make a tackle, he got all of the blame. Meanwhile, where were any of the other defenders?

I agree with others above -- he played too early, was a victim of a (couple of) coaching changes, and now .. injury. I think that if he were a freshman today, he'd have a much brighter future.

Cioffi deserves a huge hand. He's played his heart out for this program and was the only one left standing after all the off-field crap last year. And every game the jerk who sits behind me screams nasty stuff at the kid the whole game. It's embarrassing and unnecessary. He may not be an All American but he never gives up. Hope Cioffi goes on to great things in his career after football. Thanks Anthony for all you, and your family, have done for RU!
