Hate to say it... But this feels like a Flood coached game

Sadly, I agree. I would've put Allen in...I mean what do you have to lose at this point? Down by 40+ points just freaking go for the TD.

For the umpteenth time, it's not Ash's fault! It's Flood who is responsible for all of this, the play calling, the personnel decisions, the preparation, etc.

I don't think anyone's arguing that Flood didn't leave an empty cupboard. I think what we're all concerned about is that Ash has already had countless game mistakes, the playcalling is stale as can be, and the same stubbornness of depth chart remains.

Down 48-3 against backups with Laviano playing as poorly as he is... and you keep him in? After the much publicized training camp that had 4 QBs in the running...

I'm not in the sky is falling crowd, and I still have all the faith in the world in Ash and what he's building. But you have to admit, there's some serious red flags popping up all over again.

Today wasn't a "game" - there was no contest. It was more a "procedure" and throwing cold guys off the bench into the meat grinder wasn't going to do anything. Maybe that works at Bama or OSU but not even close at Rutgers.

Flood also called our players individually right before this game and instructed them that ball security is not important. The 3 turnovers are on him

Maybe Ash wanted to give Laviano every possible chance to show something positive before turning the team over to Allen or Odin.

Unfirtnately, I saw only 1-2 decent passes from him and 1-2 great catches off on poor passes. Laviano looked exactly like he did last year - virtually no passes over 15 yards, bad passes between 5-10 yards, fumbles, sacks.

There is zero offense with him in there. Maybe there won't be with someone else, but I hope we get the chance to see. This could be a season we see 4-5 QBs hit the field. At this point, I'm just hoping we see at least two

IF you can't understand the effect Flood's recruiting has done, and will continue to do, I don't know what to tell you.

BTW - Schiano took notes, too, I really don't understand why people have an issue with this to be honest. Shit I didn't even care that Flood did it and, well, you know how I feel about that. :scream:

Please let this be the case.

but wait,,the new "culture" was supposed to change EVERYTHING LOL

sure.....these are not "his" guys
but
it wasnt Flood not inserting the 2nd string QB late
It wasnt Flood calling Lavianos number in the red zone when Hicks was running well
it wasnt Flood kicking a FG when were are down 40

This was NOT a well coached game.....
but it WAS Ashs 1st as a HC
and I give him a pass

Wash is a GOOD team........
Lets see if he makes adjustments next week
I have to believe he WILL make some changes
and there were some high points on D

Agree with most of this (other than the FG...kid needs experience...). Need some perspective here also as plenty of teams have looked, well, "meh" - as they typically do - here in Week 1. Take into account playing a team that some of us have been saying for a while SHOULD be favored by 20+ points, combine it with a 1st game HC, THEN throw on top of it the lack of talent, well, this is what you get most of the time. Not going to worry myself.

Should've hired Schiano. This is Flood 2.0. Even flood had a top 25 recruiting class before he started losing a lot of games like we will this year.

I never understood why a defensive head coach with no offensive experience would turn over the offense to a 27yr old new coordinator. No ability to fit the offense to laviano. Just jamming square pegs in round holes.

For the love of God. To compare one game from a brand new head coach traveling cross country to four years of ineptitude from the previous regime defies belief.

People need to take a deep breath and at least give this group a full season before casting him in the same lot as Flood.

WTH ASH?
you are running a direct snap wildcat to a true freshman NON QB..not after one fumble but twice..on the 10 yard line..
and NO Allen ..at this point if your going to do stupid things like that..and dont trust Allen,Rettig,Gio ..just put in ODIN and let him learn on the fly!!
TODAYS QB of Washington started as a true Freshman last season..look at him now.
That was Flood like letting Baily,a WR take two wildcat snaps at QB AND FUMBLED twice..
meanwhile do we mention Fleck beat Northwestern and Schiano .....NEVER MIND..
lAVIANO..PLEASE WE HAVE SEEN ENOUGH OF HIM..

For that matter, the opponent too. We could have played Syracuse if not for Elmer Fudd's input

hey NUTS...tks...I also choose not to worry
I hope I am not the only one that saw some good things vs a ranked team

Hicks can RUN!
Goodwin can also run
We did get a sack and did some gang tackling
Cioffis INT!
our kickers did pretty well
Archadiacano (sp) was open but Laviano kept missing him
Goodwin can catch the ball!
and Janarion Grant is still "the man"

and I am going to go out on a limb and say.....Florida guy...Fr Trey Snead...will get some good yardage THIS YEAR!

Schiano wasnt even vaguely in the mix for the job...he wanted no part of it

With you NUTS.

The C-in-C shouldn't be writing notes, he should be dictating. Let someone else not pay attention to the game, and write while coach talks. Napoloen had three aides writing at the same time.

Let's be honest guys the team looked ill prepared and the coaching staff looked worse. I'm not a Flood supporter but he looked better than this coaching staff and he lost 1/3 of his starters before the season started. This was really bad gentlemen and unless the well paid adults on the sideline get their act together this is going to be a messy year.

Ash is responsible for implementing a spread offense on a team filled with players recruited for the pro set.
Also for having to tweak the offense he wants to play into one the players on the roster can adjust to easier than the one he will be using once his recruits dominate the roster.

I don't expect a quick fix and this season will be a learning experience for the players on the roster that will be returning next year.
This season Rutgers is going to pay for changing it's offense , so in the future RU FB will benefit from the change.

"Yeah that why we lost the game (sarcasm)" This team lacks talent and we just played a top team. The result should not be surprising.

We lined up on 4th to see if we would get a mismatch, but we didn't so we called timeout. Coaching 101.

Feels like this guy coached us today.

Hope we never look like this again. Just one game but that was a mighty bad performance.

...psst...this....but the Flood apologists are still too busy making nonsensical statements to actually listen, even though many of same posters whined and moaned that Flood's issues were caused by Schiano...and the people rooting for Schiano obviously don't remember a damn thing about his first 2 seasons here...not 1 single solitary thing...because if they did, they might remember us getting destroyed while he had the team implement his systems, and low and behold by year 3 we started to compete.

...some of you truly act mind-numbingly stupid and don't even remember your own history.
