Taking a bottom two conference team to OT isn’t exactly big ten tournament finals type inspiring stuff.
Which is exactly why this scenario will play out. It’s Rutgers. The team will extract every bit of hope the fan base has because killing us quickly isn’t how it’s done as a Rutgers fan.
And no, I don’t think the team is good.
There’s no “run” in this team. We might score 80+ points the rest of the way, but our defense is so bad that we can’t play consistently enough to win a bunch of games in a row. Our interior defense and pick and roll defense were just as horrid last night as they were in Vegas and against Princeton. Washington scored at will against us, and we were lucky that Osobor and Mason fouled out.

I know people are ticked about he season, but I'm inspired about the team's play last night. They had a lot of energy and the look on their faces in overtime said "We are going to win this thing." THAT's the Rutgers "Keep Choppin" mantra I know, not some self-defeatist whining. Let's go and win the next one!

Bottom line Rutgers hasn't shown consistent performances at both ends of the court to expect even a two game winning streak.The recent performance at the RAC also doesn't inspire confidence.Success is largely dependent on Bailey and Harper scoring at least 45 points.Failure is likely giving up over 80 points.Of course ,there will be exceptions to the rule.
The only way it happens is to correct the defensive end , which after 27 games doesn’t seem like it is happening. Just eliminating the easy blow by from the opposing guards would help because that leads to a lot of open 3’s . Stopping uncontested drives to the hoop would also be helpful .,We have to stay in front of our man , do not stray into the paint so you cannot recover to get to the corner 3 or any 3 and that would help the defense tremendously . JMike has to play less because his defense sucks so bad and he refuses to fight over screens. Jeremiah if he stays out of foul trouble and keeps his head on straight and doesn’t celebrate every damn good play , has to be on the opposing guard for at least 30 minutes as he is the only one that can make a difference.
