Game thread in full meltdown mode as usual. Just remember that this a good team that will be fine the rest of the season. We simply aren’t good enough offensively yet to overcome a bad defensive performance or be elite but we will be hopefully a single digit seed in the ncaa tournament and top 4 team in the big ten. When the elite recruits start rolling in next year is when we can start to dream big.

12-8 big ten, 7 seed is still a very realistic and achievable goal IMHO. Let's get a road win at NW

Northwestern is a solid team. I HATE the slate of games this coming week
Northwestern winning today also sets them up for the possible letdown, as well as our guys looking to bounce back from an atypical performance today. I think we've got a good shot at that one.
NW is solid. Like pretty much every game except maybe Minn it will be tough. And Minn is still no gomme

We played bad, mostly on the defensive end which is concerning. However, we were due for a team to come in here and light it up shooting. It happens, great teams are able to overcome a hot shooting night from an opposing team. We are not a great team at this point. Great teams can win in multiple different ways, this team can only win one way and that’s elite defense
I still think this teams floor is 11-9 and ceiling is 14-6
I believe we scored our average. It was the defense and mental errors.
I wish people would keep this is mind. These are human beings. We all would have been fine with 2-1 this week.
Meltdowns happen because we have credible writers and posters throwing out nonsense like “making the tournament isn’t a question, it’s whether or not they’ll be a 5 or a 6 seed at this point.” This is a team that will play it down to the wire and sweat it out. Sorry 🤷♂️

Tough loss, didn’t play well, but expect them to come back strong. Good learning opportunity for the team not to look too far ahead, and rather they learn that this early in the year vs. March.

Eh 11-9 in the big ten probably gets us in the tournament without a sweat but I did find it funny how people just assumed Paul was all of a sudden a consistent scorer because he had 2 straight games with 15 points. Dude still refuses to shoot outside of 10 feet from the basket.
stop...Iowa had to too, they had one extra day but had to fly here while we stayed home
agree with you....there is no guarantee for this team, its likely headed toward that 12-8/11-9 record which puts you on the 11 line which is close to last 4 in
Rutgers seems to have the edge over Purdue while Iowa clearly has the fire power to stifle Rutgers even at the RAC.

The problem is every time I think that they have a game like they did against SHU or one like today against Iowa. Huge slate of games coming up
Iowa is our worst matchup every year, this loss isn’t a big deal at this point
They're human beings? No, they're not. They are objects of entertainment for us, and when they let us down, we need to excoriate them.
Iowa’s offense always gives us problems because they have a lightning quick inbound and push the ball hard up the court. You’ll see our D is never downcourt and set when they push the ball up so there’s always going to be an open guy. Teams like MSU, Purdue, and Michigan don’t do this so we match up better against them.
if my aunt had balls, we were outplayed fully today in every aspect of the game. Take the L and credit them. They hit shots, we didnt and our D was not good
Stop….Iowa does not play nearly as hard as we do. Way different level of intensity (today was,I hope, an anomaly)
Not excuses. They are reasons. If we had 4 guys that can come off the bench and not have a drop off in play it would be less of an issue.
Let's see. We gave up 22 points over our avg and scored our avg. But it was the offense.
Yes we needed to score 7-10 more and hold them to 7-10 less. But if we play our D we are right there at the end. And THAT is Pikes plan. Not outscore in an offensive game.
Oh and yeah. Our offense stunk. But we never count on that. We count on our defense and we weren't in any foul trouble for that excuse.
We were on our way down in the ebb and flow of the season, and we caught Iowa on the way up after the comeback win, we didn't play perfect against Maryland but still won by 15. There was signs of this coming against Md.

We played 5 straight games of high level basketball, eventually there will be an off night. It happened today. Nothing more.
Too many guys were saying we would win the BIG when we still had 16 BIG games to play. Some were acting like we were a TOP 10 team in the nation, Some went way over the top. I said we must take one game at a time. The BIG is a tough and physical league. We looked tired and our defense was not nearly as good as it has been all year. We will have up and downs. Hopefully we can get a win at Northwestern. GO RU,
