Hopefully, losing 49-10 keeps PSU fans away

Their fans are going crazy over there on BWI with 30-40% of them questioning Franklin. They are in year 2 of the process similar to Flood termination. They keep repeating to themselves they have the second youngest team in college even though 3 OL are seniors. They can use the same excuse for 2 more years with an inexperience OL.

They also use the injured laden team as another excuse. The closest to Syracuse of any team for making excuses. Oh, the third excuse is that the referees are against them.

*Wants to keep PSU fans away* *creates thread with bait in title to attract PSU fans* makes sense OP!

So, you understand what I want to see happen....I want to see the funny excuses and I laid the bait.

I'm confused, we lost too... can't you wait until we win, or even better, beat them ourselves?

Yes and No....Yes, you are confused because you feel the need to scrutinize the reason for someone else's post and No, I decided to post my comment today.

There is still 7 games of football to be played before the State Penn game so yesterday's game has little effect.
Also hate to say it but we need the PSU fans to show up so we can fill the stadium and get the Dollar$ needed for ticket revenue $$$$.

And just as many of the cultists believe they are going to beat Rutgers again and finish the year at 8-4...until we BEAT them nothing changes for us.. this is another game we can win...

This is the year you beat us, right?
I'll take the "bait" as a proud PSU alum from Jersey...no excuses other than Michigan is a far superior team...I can't wait to play Rutgers this year though, think you guys will go 0 for the B1G...sounds like your fan base is already questioning your new shiny head coach "learning ln the job" while bringing in a bunch of division II coaches and FBS quality control coaches. We may finish 6-6 again this year but that includes a four TD minimum win at HPSS later this year...how is it that you guys have "QB competitions" after bringing in highly recruited transfers all year yet continue to run out this kid who can't throw the ball downfield and is actual a liability to the offense, can't this coaching staff develop a better QB?

Maybe if the Nittanys aren't bowl eligible but:1) too many of their alum thought they were too good for New Jersey, 2)Too many "locals" can't get into RU (hate RU) or Penn State and R PSU wanabees (note at last year's Ohio State game I could swear a chunk of my section 125 were dRUnk Newc York males New York local 25-35 year old who met on "meetup.com" two hours before gametime and pretend they were Buckeye fans) and 3) Half of that part of Pennsylvania has never been to New Jersey "The big city".

This right here is where you show you have little credibility. PSU is paying over $4M per year for a head coach to finish .500 for the third straight season while the majority of the fanbase still yearns for a guy who has been dead for 5 years to be the head coach. "We are"...never going to be what we were 20+ years ago ever again. At least year in, year out anyway. You are now Iowa...you may have a real good season every 4-5 years. And this was BEFORE the sanctions you use as a crutch. Otherwise, you are a 7-5/8-4 type program...something we even managed to pull off in our very first season in the conference with half the resources you guys have. Anything we accomplish between now and when we actually become full share members of the conference financially will be gravy. Let's see where we are when WE no longer have to compete with one arm tied behind OUR back. From what I can tell, you guys didn't seem to like it too much either.

Not sure what delusions these are.

The fan base is already questioning the head coach?
A bunch of Div II coaches and FBS quality control coaches?
Bringing in highly recruited transfers all year at QB?

I'm ok with being on par with Iowa, they've been the Thorn in our side every year when we thought we had a chance at a conference championship. RU is never going to be Iowa because you lack the fan base to take the program to the next level. I'd venture a very positive guess that there might be very close to the same number of fans that drive the 3-4 hours any given Saturday out to state college from NJ/NY/CT for PSU games than attend Rutgers games here at home. Judging by your attendance that's not hard to fathom...Pittsburg of the east, be thankful you paint some of your bleacher seats red not Bright yellow so it looks like there are more buns in the seats.

Our head coach had a rebuilding job at Vandy a school that never went to a bowl game in its history and took them to two. He has a major rebuilding job here at PSU and has two straight top 25 recruiting classes. Let's see what Ash finishes at, I'd say he is lucky if he holds onto a top 40 class after this miserable year.

1) yes agree but not too good for NJ, too good for RU - safety school along with TCNJ
2) see above, I'm sure it's the same with psu, much easier to get into in-state
3) actually I do agree with this, western PA towards Pitt is worse though, which is why some of us say "if you can't go to college, you can always go to Pitt"

We already beat you in the world where having a moral compass and not being completely delusional matters. That's the world outside of Enabler Valley.

Get it?

I read this site enough to know that the delusional fans part is not exclusive to PSU fans.

I couldn't make sense of the majority of this post but the New Jersey big city part cleared it all up.

This is funny.

Penn State was outclassed by Michigan on Saturday. I'm not sure that came as a surprise to anyone who doesn't have their head up their you-know-what. When you are one of the youngest teams in the country with only 12 seniors, are missing a handful of defensive starters including all of your linebackers, and are playing a legitimate National Championship contender, these types of games happen.

Franklin isn't the reason Penn State got blown out this weekend. When your walk-on MLB gets ejected on an awful targeting call and you place him with a wrestler just promoted from the scout team this week, that isn't coaching. That's talent, depth, and all of those other good things present on big-time rosters. Further, the improvement we've seen in the OL over the first few weeks was exposed as something of a mirage, as it looked like 2014 and 2015 all over again on Saturday when they faced a legit defensive front.

What DID concern me about this one is how the team seemed to play scared as the game went on, kicking meaningless field goals, not attempting fourth down conversions, etc. I'm still in the camp that supports Franklin and thinks everyone needs to withhold final judgment until after next season as some of these roster limitations fix themselves, but more lopsided losses like this one, and yes, the natives will get restless.

Fortunately, Penn State plays just one more game against a team the caliber of Michigan. The defense presumably can only get healthier, and the offense is plenty good enough to still go at least 5-2 against the non-Ohio State portion of the rest of the schedule. It won't be pretty at times, but that would still get you the 7-5 season with improved offensive play you were looking for as a jumping-off point heading into 2017, which will be something of a make-or-break year for this staff.

How much time did you spend in the showers with Sandusky ?

It's because Franklin believes in moral victories. I said it immediately after he Tweeted that ridiculous "progress" Tweet in his first game against OSU and people blasted me for it. You go in the locker room and tell your guys that they played their hearts out and you're proud of them and you leave it at that. You don't put up some hokey Tweet comparing stats and pretending like you actually did something when you didn't. That Tweet told me all I needed to know about Franklin.

Lol. When your football program is a national laughing stock. Has been irrelevant for 2 decades. Are nothing more than a Minnesota, Indiana, type mid tier big 10 program. I can see why the only thing you can hang your hat on is attendance.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Considering there nothing else for all you hicks to do but go watch a mediocre football program as your night out.

We aren't a rival yet they come here explaining the most recent loss to RU fans. I have no doubt we will be the underdog on 11/19 and a win would be a big upset but its just a matter of time before the tables turn at least as long as Franklin is coaching/standing on the sidelines. They guy can recruit, he just cant coach.

Yes, because all of the attendees of the Penn State games are "hicks" who live within a 20 mile radius of the stadium. Good point.

We may not have had a NC in 30 years but I think it is a stretch to say that we've been completely irrelevant. The standings over that 30 year time frame would suggest otherwise.

After the game, the fans tried to convince themselves that Franklin is a good coach but now, almost all the posters are negative on Franklin.

1. No, you're not a "rival."

2. I didn't "come here" to explain anything. I'm a relatively frequent poster on this board, and PSU is an even more frequent topic of conversation here. Figured I'd chime in with my thoughts on the subject, which was started by an RU fan.

3. The book is 100% out on Franklin as a coach at this level. I think you miss the mark, though, by saying things will get worse before they get better. As PSU continues to restock the roster, experienced 4- and 5-star players can make even a mediocre head coach look damn good.

Did not watch the PSU game, but it seemed Barkley got most of the receptions. I'm guessing no time for your QB to throw deep? Did Blacknall get any thrown his way?
You pleased with Giesecki's (sp?) performance so far this year? Saw last week he mad an insane catch.

The OL was a problem, yes.

Blacknall DNP. Still out with an injury.

Gesicki is a great athlete who I think has a chance to be a threat catching the ball in the NFL. His blocking leaves a lot to be desired.
