HOW CAN A COACH BE SO GOOD IN THE OFF-SEASON AND SOOO BAD DURING THE SEASON?

I fear that we have hired Terry Shea II. Our talent is more than good enough to beat Illinois. Maybe this will be a reverse jinx but I think Ash will be 4 and gone. Ash working for OSU's bowl game was probably a clue.
What exactly makes a good "off-season" coach? Winning the Spring game? Not having any players arrested?
Might be the same way Laviano is apparently a practice all star but...
It is way too soon to fairly judge Ash, but this was a winnable game. Looks like the coaches cannot get the players to execute . Isn't that what coaching is all about? To teach players how to stay focused and execute?
in fairness the concerning thing today was talent was fairly equal in a game RU played at home. Lets remember Illinois has been a sh!tshow for a couple of years as well

I suppose Ash might be trying different things and not focusing on winning games this year. He did say that he never said that we would win games this year. So yeah, right now I think he is Terry Shea II but next week maybe I will think he is Urban Meyer.
Terry would out coach this staff easily, his teams were not sloppy, did not make these
mistakes, and was the lest penilized team in the conference.
They are still a legit Big Ten program. Beat PSU two years ago. We are still a meddling AAC level program. People don't want to accept this for some reason.
0-11. Sat through every game as a freshman. This is absolutely NOTHING like that.
Because in the season he actually has to turn D2 players into D1 players. He isn't a magician.
It is simply amazing how many of you have NO FREAKING CLUE how depleted the talent on this team is. No clue.
A good HS team would give this RU team problems. This is a five-year rebuild for Ash, if you guys have the patience.

Well we weren't playing in the Big Ten for 63 of those years. Now we have to be built up like a big ten team.
Harbaugh didn't rebuild anything. He took over a team that was LOADED with talent and added to it with some great recruits like Peppers. Comparing what Hoke left at UM in terms of talent to Flood at RU is not fair to Ash.

Yeah I couldn't believe Ash did that. [eyeroll] This is going to be at least a five year build for Rutgers. The fact is Rutgers is not a B1G level team.

I said I said this last night during the game. This team is not well coached at all. In fact I would go so far as to say that it's probably one of the worst coached teams we've ever had

against a 1 and 4 team.
How can a fan base be so good in September and so bad in October. ?Schiano in a similar situation looked like poop 15 years ago and if he doesnt luck into Rice it might not have happened at all for him.If the recruits don't abandon ship we are on our way .Do we need linemen? Yes we do .If we don't get them then Ash or anyone else we get to run the show will not win.
