There seems a general consensus that in addition to Geo and Eugene, the guys who should be getting most floor time are in their first year at this level: Shaq C, Caleb, Montez, Myles, Ron. What's an open question is how good they are relative to the rest of the league. How good will they be next year? Are we pinning our hopes on guys who will be legit B1G players, or are these guys marginal at best?

I'm very, very, very cautiously optimistic that next year they'll be competing well v the league.

So of the 5 you mentioned, which one is the go to guy? The guy who puts the team on his back and wills them to victory? No one. Because Pikiell and his staff have yet to land anything more than complementary players. And until they do, forget about competing in this conference.

I have that concern, too. Still, with the exception of Shaq, it frequently looks like we have kids playing against men. With the current group, plus Mulcahy and Young, I think what we’re hoping to see, as a ceiling, is stil not .500 in league.

Playing a steady diet of B1G opponents will be the clearest indication of which players have the talent to play in a power conference. There is no place to hide when skill deficiencies are exposed by more talented players .

The basis of my post yesterday

As an also, maybe not for this thread, we don’t have many real jump shooters on the team: guys who actually elevate, who have athletic releases. Geo does, but the others are tippy-toed. Ball fakes, jab steps work much better when you can really get off the shot with the bit of created space.

I feel confident the players can hold their own with the rest of the league. They have the size, arm span, etc. They just have to keep working. I am starting to feel Mulcahy is a great get, but we will need another shooter. Young could be that, and is broadcasted as that. Mulcahy is not being relied upon from day 1, and posters shouldn’t think that. He will need to be a shooterto really have his impact, as we can see we are in need of that.

The days of the pure pg are not necessarily still here.Lots are combo guards. They have to be able to shoot as well as well as they players around them.
