I said Acuff would take essentially all of Davis’ minutes, and many said no way.

I said “not so fast” to everyone saying Bailey would surely get picked before Harper.

Now some are saying Bailey should stay an extra year…lol.

He obviously won’t stay, but I think my point has been proven that Ace isn’t a lock to go before Dylan.

With Harper getting all the way to the hole on a regular basis last night, there was no point in him passing the ball.

The staff has to figure out how to get Bailey the ball in good spots. Last night night he looked like a guy at the YMCA who takes a meh shot (at best) every time he touches the ball.

I'd rather see him firing 3's than the 15-19 foot shots he's taking.

Way too early to write Bailey's season story yet but I do agree he has lots to improve on. His shot selection seems to actually be getting worse the longer his shooting woes go. And imagine if he looked to pass once in a while. Hopefully these last 2 games are a bit humbling for him and takes to some coaching. Really seems like he could use it.

Can we just let Bailey have some time to develop? Not every 5 star player is going to be like Dylan Harper. Ace is obviously super talented but needs work on his game awareness and decision making on the court. Even though he has been struggling the last two games he still made an important contribution last night down the stretch. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Rome was already supposed to be built when it concerns Ace. He was supposed to look more ready than how he has looked. Dylan not only has looked college basketball ready, he looks NBA ready, today, like as in he could be in an NBA rotation today. Ace…..well…..not so much. It is beyond surprising that he has looked how he has looked thus far. Could this change? Does this need to change? Absolutely, as Ace playing at a high level is required for this team to reach higher levels. But let’s not make him sound like some sort of developmental project, he was brought in to immediately impact games the way Dylan has been impacting games. We need Ace to hold up his end of the bargain otherwise this will be a long season. If Ace starts playing at levels we expect, the ceiling goes higher and higher for this team.

High expectations and NIL money cannot guarantee performance results. Ace is where he is right now. I think the coaching staff will get him going soon enough.

It feels like anyone who watched these guys play in showcases could see Dylan was far more ready. Ace will probably have some nights where he can’t miss and scores 40, but due to his games immaturity he’ll have some offensive stinkers too. If he can impact the game with defense and rebounding on the off nights it’s not a huge deal

Not saying they’re equal, but the staff never figured out how to get Griffiths good looks last year either. DH excelled 1 on 1 last night. Team ball movement was poor, just like last year, except for DH’s skip pass to JWill for the corner three.

I don't mind Ace taking bad shots. I mind him slow jogging back on D with 1:05 left in a crucial game.

I get the sense Dylan is trying to win a basketball game and Ace is OK just playing.
This 100%, Ace at times feels like he is playing AAU ball or just trying impress scouts with highlights. Dylan is beyond locked in, even better than i thought he could be. Ace needs to focus on aspects of winning basketball (rebounding, defense and taking shots more in the flow of the game) and I know better games will come for him. Would love to see him grabbing 8-10 boards a game as this team sorely needs help on the boards as evidenced by Acuff being the leading rebounder last night.

Let ace get comfortable...this isn't a team where he can hide as he is the go to player. luckily, Dylan is also a go to player so the team can survive a bad shooting night from ace...but ace and Dylan will have bad games, hopefully never on the same night...Ace needs to learn to go to the basket if his shot isn't falling, long 2s and fade aways will lead to some nights like this. He still looks timid out there to me, even on that last possession at Kennesaw st..I was sure that he was going to bring the ball up and take the last shot. He passed, come on Ace, take that shot..Dylan looks comfortable and relaxed...by January Ace should be more in the flow...you get praise for coming to a lower tier school as a 5 star player but you also get more responsibility as a player and leader. If he went somewhere like Alabama he can just make the occasional cut to the basket for a lay up or dunk and hit catch and shoot 3s. He will really develop his game as a go to player at Rutgers and by tournament time Rutgers should have 2 freshman that can take over games and close them out like pros..

Defense and rebounding is what we need from him while he struggles to find his scoring, don’t think he has read the memo yet unfortunately. It is very concerning when Tyson Acuff leads the team in rebounding. It’s not just Ace, also Martini, Ogbole, and Lathan and Ace need to show far more toughness when it comes to crashing the boards.

Guys please apologize to me on an internet forum
Being right and gloating about it is objectively fun.

None of this was a dig at Ace to be clear. He will be more than fine. He’s averaging 17 and 5 on 44% from 3 lol.

The floor/ceiling exercise is fun so here’s one I posted before.

Dylan Floor: D’Angelo Russel (10% chance)
Dylan Ceiling: Cade Cunningham (40%)
Somewhere in the middle (50%)

Ace Floor: Jabari Smith (40% chance)
Ace Ceiling: Jayson Tatum (10%)
Somewhere in the middle (50%)

Who do you pick?

If you’re thinking Dylan’s ceiling is much higher than Cade, you probably don’t know how good Cade is (because the Pistons stink).

Trying to get validation from a bunch of dudes on an anonymous forum is a weird. I just don’t get it. If I have an opinion and someone doesn’t agree with it, I certainly don’t take it personally.

It's a message board, not 4th grade detention
Hopefully you'll get exactly zero "I'm sorry's" and men will continue posting opinions on the teams that represent the school we all love

Your comparisons suck. Dylan’s closest comparison is Jalen Brunson as his driving ability and ability to make the basket with either hand is off the charts and he doesn’t have a 3 point range or accuracy that JLo has and JLo cannot drive like Dylan and Cunningham is a little closer but not comparable.
ACE has Jabari Smith potential but his timidness so far and unwillingness to drive to the hoop and put it in the floor has him not even close to Tatum. He is not playing hard enough, cutting , driving , rebounding, blocking shots . But he has the ability to do all the foregoing and do it well. Hopefully the light bulb ignites tonight against Alabama

It’s not just the coaches, also on Ace to display effort on the boards specifically…..that is on Ace to correct and deal with. Coaches can tell you to box and crash the boards all day, but players have to do it. It’s not just Ace, this is an issue with all frontline guys (Martini, Ace, Lathan and Ogbole). When Derkack is your leading rebounder for the year (5.8 RPG) and Acuff led with 7 last night, that is a bad warning sign that you’re getting woefully inept rebounding performances out of your frontline guys.

I'd really like the coaches have him play inside/out rather than outside/in that he's doing now. Would love to see him post him man up and focus on rebounds; then build his confidence on his outside shooting. We really need him in the paint.

I don't know how DH can do much more than last night. Maybe hit more 3's? But he was a man among boys last night. In the B1G, that will be hard to repeat.

winfield, I would actually like to see Ace drive to the basket more and use his height and wingspan advantage. Settling for mid-range jumpers and 3's can hamper us if he's not knocking them down as what happened last night, although he had one big mid-range shot late in the game that he scored on.

We're two games removed from Ace putting up 23 and 10.

This board is weird.
He did that against Merrimack, in two more substantial tests (first road game at Kennesaw and ND game) he grabbed a total of 5 rebounds with poor shot selection, shooting a combined 10-29 to go with his 5 combined rebounds in those 2 games. This is a far cry from what we know he is capable of. This is why it’s being pointed out. We are looking for around 16-18 points a game with 7-9 rebounds per game. He was far from that against Kennesaw and ND. It’s not just Ace, Martini, Ace, Lathan, and Ogbole are averaging about 15 rebounds per game combined. Meanwhile, Dylan, Derkack, JWill, and Hayes are averaging about 18 combined rebounds per game. The forwards and centers need to step it up on the boards, Ace included in that group, as they are not doing their part. The performance of the guards and wings has been acceptable on the boards (Acuff led the way last night with 7 rebounds), the bigs not so much.

What are your thoughts on tonight v the spread and O/U ??

The edge Ace has is that he's 6-10, can shoot, and athletic. Those types are always picked ahead of others that don't fit that description
Kevin Durant was Kevin Durant his Frosh year in Colllege....The odds of Ace turning into an NBA super star are slim. He has nba size and shot.making ability. But he is.miles from being an NBA legit player
