I don't remember anytime that a head coach that was just hired, coaching in his new team's bowl game, like Luke Fickell of Wisconsin is doing. Are there any others that you can remember?

Of course there have been a bunch of assistant coaches that stayed on to still coach in their bowl games(like Chris Ash and many of the Alabama assistants).

Best of Luck,

I’m interested to see where Leonhard lands. He’d be a sought after DC on the college level. I read he even turned the DC role for the Packers in the past so he might be wanted there too.

I have a friend who I use to work with who is a Wisconsin grad and he told me that a lot people were surprised when Leonhard didn't get the permanent job.

It's a little surprising but not too much because I got the feel their AD wants to try take the next step to push Wisconsin up a level. Leonhard has only been a coach under Chryst so that's all he knows. They just got rid of Chryst so Leonard would have had to really shine in his audition to prove he's much better and different than Chryst and could take them up that notch. He did okay in his audition so that wasn't enough for the AD. It's always possible Leonhard could be back at Wisconsin in the future after working elsewhere and learning under other coaches.
