Very disappointing, as I thought this guy was going to develop into a special player for us. We really could have used him Saturday.

We are unbelievably shallow at linebacker. At least we could pitch immediate starting time.

Supposedly left for personal reasons which I took to mean that this was not football related. Sounds like he is looking for a new school. I think NJ.com mentioned Temple

Ash will have to move some people. LB is a real sore spot. Along with OL its been a long neglected spot recruit wise. RUs best LB in recent years (Greene) was a converted safety. Munoz was a converted safety and it took him 3 years to get good. RU hasn't had a real stud LB in a decade.

Kid worked hard to try and start, was part of the parochial HS hype machine...and got beat out as as sophomore by a kid who transferred from D3.

Guess he gave up the fight and decided to flee. We don't need that attitude around here. We need kids who are going to fight to flip this program.

This, a huge loss.
Plus losing out on Sidney Gopre for next year hurts.
Ronnie James may be converted to LB for good. He certainly has the build if you've seen his recent pictures. If he's as good as an athlete as his brother, he will certainly have some potential. Of course I have no idea if this is true or not because I haven't seen him practice but I hope to God I'm on target.

Seems like he got beat out and didn't see eye to eye with the staff. A damn shame considering we are so thin at LB.

If he ends up at Temple I wish him well playing in front of 50K Temple fans dressed at green seats.

And if he ends up at Pitt I wish him well playing in front of 40K Pitt fans dressed as yellow seats.

something went on with him not agreeing with a coach..so the story goes...there will be others that weren't recruited by this staff to leave.

It's very simple. It happens all the time. He was passed on the depth chart. He left.

Could he throw a completion??? Forget about linebackers, we need a QB.

Thought Najee was exactly where he belonged ...in the 2 deep with the chance to beat out Jones as the season progressed...the personal issue was just an excuse...but so many are quick to overly sympathize with the departing player...blame the coach and his staff hell it easy to do...Clayton is not a DB at the level we need...he would have been a very good LB ...does not have the hips nor the quicks to be in the secondary even at Rutgers...Good Luck Najee wherever you end up...your bro Greg Jones says hi...

Yes SteveB was very good. Nobody has flashed like Thompson though imo. Tackles, turnovers, INT returns (Louisville) etc - the guy did a lot of things that were memorable game changers.
