This was the second horrible game in a row. No excuses please. We missed 12 free throws shooting under 50 % for the second game in a row. We looked like we never saw a zone before. Why wasn't Eugene or someone establishing themself at the foul line? Freeman couldn't finish again on several tries and Baker and Omoruyi played very poorly tonight. We have little room to play poorly. There is a very good chance these 2 games will cost us a winning season. I would rather play Princeton, Monmouth, Rider & St. Peter's than these other mid majors. Perhaps we would try a little harder against NJ schools. This is harder I believe on us fans of the program for 40-50 years than the players on the team. We suffer forever and live and die with the team but the players are only here for 4 years and than move on. I am beginning to think that many of us care much more than they do. This is so frustrating year in and year out.

Art, you bring up a really good point. We have no one on the team that has that "refuses to lose" leadership mentality and that is the frustrating part. It does seem like us diehard season ticket holders care more about the team and it being elevated and getting back to winning where it becomes normal again, than our players. If we had just 1 leader , he would say enough with this crap and go stomp on these inferior teams. It seems like the biggest thing missing . 10 years of losing records has produced the problem and I still hope someone on this roster says enough is enough. But I will not hold my breath!

Well up only 2 at half the players seemed to be having a great time laughing at the layup line. You would have thought there would have been a different vibe.

I don't think playing other NJ teams is the panacea for a team that lacks players that are consistent shooters.Yes,season ticket holders for decades have endured losing seasons and embarrassing losses. The fault lies with coaching staffs that have recruited players that lacked the talent to successfully compete in the Big East,AAC and now the B1G.For the most part players have cared but simply don't have the talent to succeed in a power conference.Losses to Stony Brook and Hartford are just reality checks for fans .

Ridiculous. We already play way too many cupcakes. Also, if we can't beat Stony Brook and Hartford, what makes you think we can beat Princeton or Monmouth?

Rider just beat PSU a week or so ago. But I agree with the premise that perhaps the players would get up a little more to play against New Jersey brethren

who were the last Jersey players for RU? Dhanty, Billet Bros. Dont think kids from overseas or south know/care about Monmouth and Rider

Please tell me you're not serious about the last Jersey players...

For some reason beating SHU was this team’s championship. Since then we think we’re beter than we are. The team is treating that game as their pinnacle and played garbage basketball thereafter.

I always like playing regional games, but we could just as easily lose to NJIT as Stony Brook, Rider as Hartford. So while I agree with the sentiment, I don't really see the point.

The way to play local teams in a two-bracket, eight-team annual Jersey Classic, one bracket headed by Seton Hall and one by Rutgers. Throw Monmouth, St. Peter's and NJIT in one and Princeton, FDU and Rider in the other. The following year, switch it up. Then the third year, put them back but with different first-round matchups. Over four years you would play most of the others.

Then we play Seton Hall as we always do and stop talking about this.

I think over a period of 3-4 years Rutgers should play all those teams----maybe 2 a year and always at the RAC.

I do think they should play Princeton every year though in a home and home series. It draws well and Rutgers needs games with 6-8,000 in the building.

Agree 1000%. I only make 3-4 games per year due to work and distance but I watch every minute (and I mean every minute) on tv. These last 2 games were so painful but we could have easily had tons of momentum with 2 wins after the Seton Hall game. I have been stewing since the Stony Brook game and frankly I don’t understand how the players could possibly come out flat for Hartford.

It's likely that they would play just as bad against those teams, and probably lose by larger margins because some of them actually know how to play basketball.
